Mark | 64 comments I've got a 75+ title a month habit but some highlights you might want to check out:

Superior/Amazing Spiderman (Slott is great)
Lazarus ... superb!
Batman
Justice League titles

(Currently I get my books from an online shop - 20% off and free shipping - and pop in to the local shops every few weeks to check out what I missed).

Holy pocket change, Daddy Warbucks! That's ~$2200 a year. Must be nice to be part of the 1%.

I'd be happy if it was $2200 ... usually closer to 3k a year. But I like it, so ...? These things are all relative; where I live I'm probably in the 41% ;-)

But to get back to the original poster, I find that I often follow characters but usually follow creators. My favorites are:

Ed Brubaker
Greg Rucka
Geoff Johns
Bill Willingham
Brian Michael Bendis

I'm also impressed with some of the "new" writers at DC, like Wood, LeMire, Synder, and others ...

Tamahome | 7222 comments I wish Gail Simone's Red Sonja were in my bookstore. Oh the first issue is free. http://www.newsarama.com/20365-full-f...

Andrew Knighton | 158 comments I've reached the point where it's all about trades, though that's as much from not getting to the comic shop much as anything else.

For me the real essential these days is Chew. I think I mentioned it in another thread, but it's so weird and dynamic, like nothing else out there.

Other than that I mostly go by creators. I'll try anything by Warren Ellis. Brubaker and Rucka are also likely to get my attention.

Lately I've been reading lots of Fawcett titles from The Digital Comic Museum. Captain Marvel Adventures, Whiz, Master, Bulletman. It took me a bit to warm up to the light-hearted touch C.C. Beck brought to the big red cheese. Now I'm hooked. Raboy on Junior was easy to enjoy. His covers are excellent. Bill Ward on Bulletman was fun.

I've also been reading MLJ titles. The Shield, Hangman, Wizard, and Black Hood, as well as the early Archie's in Pep and Jackpot. Lots to enjoy.

Teena | 16 comments I've been reading a lot of Image comics lately: Deadly Class, Rat Queens, Saga, Pretty Deadly...I'm really interested in picking up Black Science, but I can't fit it in my budget =( I'll probably just wait for the tpb. Oh! And Chew has been on my To Read list for a while, so I'm pretty excited to start that series after reading Andrew's comment.

A couple Vertigo titles I've been keeping up with are Hinterkind and Trillium. I also just started reading the American Vampire trades because I'm hoping to catch up before the second cycle comes out...

Aildiin | 150 comments More and more Image, less and less Marvel and DC.

Here are the details :

Marvel :
- All New X-Men
- X-Men
- Amazing X-Men
- Uncanny X-Men ( the best X-Men right now thanks to Chris Bachalo)
- Wolverine and the X-Men ( might drop depending how the relaunch is, the Aaron version was great)
- Guardians of the Galaxy ( considering dropping it)
- Wolverine
- Wolverine Origins II

yeah I got an X-Men theme going...
I read Avengers, New Avengers and Thor in hardcover ( and I will admit Hickman and Aaron are doing a great job) and Hawkeye in TP.

DC :
- Batman by Snyder ( Best DC/Marvel title by FAR)
- Detective Comics
- Wonder-Woman
- Harley Quin ( for my wife, I haven't read it yet)
- Aquaman
- Superman Unchained
- Fairest
+ I read the collected hardcover for Batgirl,Justice League, Green Lantern and the TP for Catwoman.( and the deluxe hardcover for Fables so I am way behind on that one).

Image :
- Chew
- Saga
- Manifest Destiny
- Lazarus
- East of West
- Black Science
- Velvet
- Jupiter's Legacy
- Rat queens
- Deadly class
I read the hardcover for Walking Dead and the TP for Manhattan Project.

Others editors :
- Red Sonja by Gail Simone
- Hacktivist
- Legendary by Bill Willingham.
- Wild Blue Yonder.
I read the TP for The Massive by Brian Wood.

I keep adding new Image titles every few months and there's a few Marvel titles I am considering dropping ( I dropped All Star Western recently, Aquaman, Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy are on my to evaluate list).

+ being french I have started to import french-belgium comics and those are costing me a fortune every month but they are well worth it and I am building a nice collection ( Blacksad, Okko,... )

Trike | 11203 comments How is Hacktivist? I find these actor-inspired comics tend to be pretty lame, but I have been surprised by a couple in the past.

For me, the biggest surprise was Injustice: Gods Among Us. For a comic based on a Mortal Kombat game, it was surprisingly good.

My wife was the one that had me pick it up.
The first issue was ok so I signed up for the rest. I haven't read the second issue yet.

And yeah, what I have read of Injustice : Gods Among Us was great but I only read the first 9 digital issues so far ( too much to read, too little time).

message 12: by Trike (new)

Trike | 11203 comments The most interesting parts about Injustice for me was Wonder Woman's personality and the fact that Aquaman was actually a power to be reckoned with. He and his forces stood toe-to-toe with WW, Green Lantern and Shazam. Not too shabby.

They even made Harley Quinn and Lobo interesting, two characters who have always struck me as rather one-note in the past.

Anyway, I'm threadjacking. Up, up and away!

message 13: by Nancy (new)

Nancy O'Toole (temporaryworlds) | 135 comments Dark Horse
Serenity: Leaves on the Wind

DC/Vertigo
Trillium
The Wake

Image
Lazarus
Pretty Deadly
Rocket Girl
Saga
Velvet

Marvel
All New X-men
Black Widow
Guardians of the Galaxy
Mighty Avengers

Also considering adding She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Wolverine to the list. The next couple months will bring the return of Buffy, Angel and Faith, and Ultimate Spider-man. Too many comics!

message 14: by Kevin (new)

Atomic Robo
Elephantmen
The Manhattan Projects

Lisa | 25 comments I just read Tales of Honor which is the first step in what may be comic/movie/video game tie in all set in David Weber's Honorverse. I enjoyed Yoon's painterly style and I'm excited to see how Hawkins will tackle this project.
