Michael Whelan did the cover for the original paperback edition of Nifft the Lean so I think I'll be adjusting my group read plans accordingly.

I've been watching for Kindle version of Nift the Lean. I had emailed Mr. Shea about a year or so ago, asking if he knew of any plans for e-book publishing of his stories. So sad to hear he passed.

I read the announcement on the Black Gate site this morning. So truly sad. I've been meaning to read Nifft the Lean for some time now, but as with so many things, it has been an intention unrealized. Like you, I am considering making it my group read this time around.

Just catching up with this now. As far as I recall, the only work I read of Shea's is his short story 'The Growlimb', which was collected in The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 16. From memory, I enjoyed this story but I only recorded in my diary for 2006 that I'd begun to read it. Other stories in that anthology tended to get a bit more commentary in my diary, although these comments were generally perfunctory. Nevertheless, I might put these together as a basic review of the book.

Has anybody else in this group read 'The Growlimb'?
