This is so not a happy movie or book at all. OMG, this was so beautiful and emotional and heavy all at the same time.
This book has been on my to-read list for a while now! Sounds like a really good one! I clearly need to hurry up and actually get to reading it!! :D
I have the book sequels also. I have yet to get to them but The Kite Runner is such a beautiful and sad book.
I don't read sad books too often since, although beautiful, I tend to get so into books it leaves me a mess for quite some time after! So, once I finally brave TFIOS then I will look into this one!
Yeah Khaled Hosseini is one of ym all time favorite authors. The Kite Runner and A thousand Splendid Suns are both phenominal! They are really emotionally heavy but so worth it! I also enjoyed And the Mountains Echoed...it wasn't as emotional as the other books which is good because it made it easier to read...but "bad" in that I wasn't as connected to the plot as the other two. Still liked it :)
I enjoyed this author's first two books and was in line the day of the release of his third book. he changed his writing style, I was disappointed. A Thousand Splendid Suns is a beautiful story and The Kite Runner broke my heart. I definitely balled my eyes out with the first 2 books
One of my favourite authors. I really liked "The Kite Runner" when I read it, and it has earned a spot on my Keepers Shelf. :) The movie is on my list....

I think it was an independent film, but there was a movie made of Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner. Like always, movie left out stuff from the book, however I was happy with some of the changes. While I love the book, I appreciated that the last section of the movie was a lot less violent and graphic than the book. When Amir gets beat up in the book he is hospitalized for a while, in the movie he walks away with just bruises. That part didn't really bother me, but it lead to the part in the book Sohrab attempts suicide because Amir might not be able to adopt him and that was fairly disturbing, so I didn't mind leaving that out of the movie at all.
