Katie Bananas | 1 comments Hi guys,
My name is Katie, and I love to get myself into the habit of reading... I was wondering what happened to the January list of books, I would appreciate it very much if someone sent it to me somehow!!!

Thank you all,
Happy Reading! :)

Karin I'm trying to figure out a game to play here for 2016, but perhaps it's a bit late starting now, plus I'm not sure about how my tbr from before this year will work for some of these.

Any suggestions for an easy one to start with this year so late in January?

Hi Karin, excited to see you wanting to jump in a challenge :)

My suggestion would be Bookopoly as you can really join in or opt out anytime though you do need to create a specific 'bookopoly' bookshelf to join in...

Or, we've only just started We're Going on a Book Hunt so that's another option :)

Karin, there is always LOST, where you list and read the 10 oldest books on your TBR, or Moving Mountains, which works on clearing some of your TBR. Both run all year and are self-determined.

The good thing about most of PAS challenges is that you can pretty much join in when you are ready.

Thanks, but my head started to spin with questions on Bookopoly, so perhaps going on a book hunt.

Oh no... It is quite involved and requires regular / consistent participation from everyone with as minimal admin from mods (or so I hope) so I guess it is quite a bit of info to swallow :)

Thanks, but next game or next year would be better for me to start a more complicated game, with all the switching from Shelfari to the places my groups have moved and the challenges I'm already doing.

Nicole Hello to everyone! Sorry to be such a newbie but can anyone recommend a challenge/game in this group that would help reduce my TBR list?

Hi Nicole! I think you could say that most of the games/challenges in this group are aimed at reducing our TBR. The year is close to its end now, but I hear that a new special edition of Bookopoly is going to come up soon, you probably might want to join in on that one, it helped me a lot reduce my TBR.

Nicole, a simple recurring game aimed at the TBR is LOST - longest on the TBR shelf. We generally aim at 10 books per year. This game will restart in January, but you can join anytime. If you do not think you will be able to read 10 books in the remaining 2 months of 2017, you could try for 5.

Nicole Thank you both for the help! Bookopoly sounds like fun, although I got a bit confused by the rules, but I’m sure I’ll be fine once it starts again!

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Personally I love scatter shelves and Bookopoly.
In december a new round of bookopoly starts, so you might want to wait for that one. The rules can be confusing at first, but feel free to ask if you need any help!

message 14: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I will definitely give Bookopoly a try! I only have one shelf which is my TBR so I don’t think I could do the scatter one.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments That's great Nicole!

You don't need to use your own shelf for scatter shelves. It's all about how other people tagged a book.
If you decide to join, feel free to ask questions. We'll be happy to help you.

Nicole Thanks Lusie, I’m sure I’ll have questions! :)
