Which world-famous series do you like more?

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 67 comments Absolutely Harry Potter. I love VAMPs but I think HP is more Epic storytelling

Jenni (jennibookedup) I agree with Terri! Absolutely Harry Potter! I liked the Twilight series, but HP is so imaginative and magical.

message 4: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne I think I might be the only person on the planet who hasn't read either. I have never had any interest in reading either series.

Madge (madge_the_bibliomaniac) | 147 comments Absolutely Harry Potter! I read the Twilight books and I did not see the appeal at all. People said that it was because I was older (19/20 I think), but I know, based on my tastes when I was younger, that I would have hated them no matter when I read them. The writing was bad, the characters were bad, the story was bad, they were just bad. I know that Stephanie is capable of better writing because I read The Host, so I have no idea what went wrong with Twilight.

Harry Potter literally saved my life when I was a kid and they started coming out. Without those books, I'm about 99% certain that I would not be here today. I re-read them almost every year, too, and never tire of them.

HP too!!! Though I love twilight (Edward!!!!!) but HP is a different world in itself...

message 8: by John (new)

John Burnett | 6 comments The two don't even compare. Harry Potter is literature at its best while Twilight is just a passing fad. HP characters are memorable with fully developed personalities. Twilight characters are just for show.

Amir (hawkmoonlight) | 23 comments Harry Potter. A great story line, and extraordinarily interesting...Twilight-not so much
But both are really different from each other-different worlds,Twilight with its supernatural/modern ages. HP with it's magical world...
Twilight is a romance type of book, Harry Potter has Fantasy. yep, different, so it's a matter of taste. And quite frankly, I enjoy magic and fantasy, particularly when mixed together.

Melissa Ramirez (melissaramirez) | 241 comments Harry Potter is a truly wonderful, exhilarating, enduring franchise. Like the Ramona Quimby series, in my opinion, it has a lot of staying power, even so many years after its release. People still love it, they get their own students or kids reading the books, and discussing the characters...it's truly a groundbreaking series. HP will never die! :)
"Twilight", in my opinion, has had its day in the sun. The series is more infamous, than actually notable - although it did sell a LOT of copies back when the books were coming out.

I still think that growing up AS the HP books were being written and published, has something to do with my immense love for it. Kids now might get into it, but it's not quite as much of A Thing now, as it was, then. Still, someone could make the argument that it's all about videogames and TV and movies now, though - and that reading, in a kid's world, is a thing of the past. I'm not sure I agree with those people, but it doesn't change the fact that the HP series remains just as magical today, as it did ten or fifteen years ago, when the books were coming out. :)

HOGWARTS forever.

Jojobean I like both but Harry Potter wins for me. The whole world that was created with all the characters and creatures just blew me away. That woman has such a great imagination.
