Oleander | 188 comments I loved Monster Hunter International (Monster Hunter International, #1) by Larry Correia . Great characters and lots and lots of action! Fun read..blow those bad vamps to smithereens.
In second place but still very good was Body Check by Elle Kennedy . Lots of tension and storyline.

Sue | 205 comments Wow, this is tough but isn't that a good thing? I read, like many of you hundreds of books a year and enjoy most. But sometimes you just hit a dry spell. Well not this month. A favorite is hard but I'm going to go with Voyager though Shadowfever is pretty neck and neck. LOL the only thing in common is they are in the romance genre.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I still have time fo finish one more. I don't think the one I'm reading would be anything special tho. I'll be with my favorite in a couple of days

Novak is one of those rare romance writers who has successfully written in multiple sub genres: historical romance, contemporary romance and romantic suspense. I'm a fan.

message 11: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I had a good month and here are some that stood out:

If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins Salvation (Nashville Nights, #2) by Robin Covington Exposing the Heiress (Once a Marine, #3) by Jennifer Apodaca Three Fates by Nora Roberts

That Lynsay Sands book was good on audio.

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments My favorite reads for August were:

1. The Hobbit (Middle-Earth Universe) by J.R.R. Tolkien
2. Penric's Demon (World of the Five Gods, #3.5) by Lois McMaster Bujold
3. Master of Crows (Master of Crows, #1) by Grace Draven <-- love the cover, also I want to read more by this author. Radiance (Wraith Kings, #1) by Grace Draven keeps popping up in my recommendations so it's going to the top of Mt. TBR.

4. Warprize (Chronicles of the Warlands, #1) by Elizabeth Vaughan - I read books 2 and 3 also. Wish I'd skipped book 2 it was the worst read of the month for me. Luckily book 3 is much better. But I'm wary of picking up book 4...

Worst read:
Warsworn (Chronicles of the Warlands, #2) by Elizabeth Vaughan <---Don't touch with a stick!

I think it's her best work yet, even though it reads more like contemporary fiction.

Three Fates was a favorite of mine, blended history (Lusitania sinking), intrigue and romance. A former thief survives with one of the three fates (small statue) he turns a new leaf after surviving but kept the statue as a keepsake. Then 3/4 of a century later, it's stolen again. I read it years and years ago, one day I'll get the audio and enjoy it again.

Sue, I was SO pleasantly surprised and loved all the things you point out. No one ever talks about this title when listing their favorite NR books and I wonder why. It's in my top five of her standalone titles.

I think folks got sucked into her trilogy work myself included, but forget she could write a great standalone book... this one and the The Witness are excellent. If I remember right Hot Ice was quite good too.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 744 comments the Witness is one of the few NR books that I LOVED. the rest were like "ugh, is it over yet?"

I did a re-listen in August so it's very fresh in my mind. The sex scenes on audio is the funniest thing ever! The narrator gets really into it and shouts "Oh LOTHAIRE.... " I LOL every time I listen to it.

The sex scenes make me LOL, I don't know if that was the author's intention but you can tell the narrator was having fun.

I've read all of them and listened to only a couple on audio so no the sex scenes are not that funny when you read them. I love the narrator he's one of the best.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I thoroughly enjoyed J.A. Templeton's Young Adult Paranormal Romance called The Deepest Cut. It was well-done, and I will definitely be reading the next one in the series soon!
