Coming From Ebony's Torture Chamber
Aston parked his car inconspicuously away, twisting the key and pulling it out he tucked that into his pocket as well as clipped it one of his belt loops. Aston then slid out of the car, closing it behind him and waited until she was out before locking up the car after she closed the door. Aston then silently made his way towards the entrance and upon entering headed to the room in the flat where their tech was placed in.
Ebony slipped out of the car, brushing her hair over her shoulder and casually glancing around them, making sure they had no tails, no one who was observing them. "Let's go," she said, walking towards Aston. The sooner they got all of the news out, the better. She followed ASton inside the entrance, the familiar warmth of technology and soft humming sound hitting her ears. She liked the tech bunker generally--the heat, the comfort it gave her. But now was not a time for comfort, now was a time for action.
Aston nodded but didn't say anything as he headed inside and to the room. He didn't always like coming into the tech bunker, especially the first time he visited. They had left Eliza's spot when he visited, they hadn't gotten around to replacing her. It always caused a pang in his heart coming in here. Aston kept his mask of indifference as he entered and headed to the main system set up, leaning over to talk to the chick seated there already working. The woman soon nodded and he sat down beside her and became working along side her to hunt down the recent party leaders and their contact info.
Ebony felt slightly useless now that they were here--it wasn't her area of expertise. Her area was pain--pain and answers, that's all she had ever been good at. Making others feel pain. It was all she knew. She could make people feel pain but she could never figure out how not to cause it, to form bonds instead. And that's why she had her chamber's hidden away. She felt it best that no one stayed close to her. So, while Aston worked , she found a place that seemed safe to lean on, and did so, then simply observed. She knew he was smart, but watching him work over these pieces of tech was an entirely new experience.
Aston hadn't been the expert with tech, that fell upon Eliza which is why she was in charge of the tech department but it didn't mean he was ignorant to how it worked. Just compared to his dead best friend, he was an amateur and compared to an amateur he seemed like an pro. Aston fell into his usual workaholic ways, forgetting the world besides what he was doing. He made fast work of the list of party leader once he's found the file deeply hidden so the Council wouldn't be able to hack into and find it. He was busy sending quick texts along with the woman sitting beside him until there were only a few more left to be sent.
Ebony picked at her fingernails nervously. "You make quick work there, huh?" She asked Aston finally, unable to bear the silence. When people were around she practically had to speak. She didn't pretend she understood exactly what he was doing or how he was doing it, but she knew he was making quick and good work, taking care of the problems which needed to be solved. Everyone was going to be swiftly contacted and brought into safety. There would be no endless loss of lives tonight. Of course, there were times when that happened. Expendables, well, Ebony didn't like to think of them as that, but often that's what they were, expendables died often. It was sad, but thats war. Or at least, that's what she told herself to keep her sane.
Aston grunted, momentarily becoming unfocused, well in his mind unfocused but he never ceased what he was doing. His full attention just wasn't on his task. "I do not believe in wasting time, didn't my driving express that?" Aston replied stiffly but you could tell that he added the last bit as a small jab at humor though he didn't bother trying to make it stand out and work properly. Aston sent the last party leader the text telling them of the cancellation and to spread the word before he logged out after deleting what he'd done, a safety procedure. He didn't want the Council discovering anything. With that done Aston landed back in the chair, watching the screen he'd used shut down before he turned the chair around to look at Ebony.
Ebony couldn't help but crack a grin at his humour. Of course, it was different humour than most dealt out, but it fit him just perfectly. When he turned to face her, she immediately threw a hand over her mouth to cover up her cheeky smile. "Finished already? Wow you really must be known for your speed," she joked with a playful wink. But she couldn't help but be relieved that he had finished already--everyone knew. "I'm assuming we're going to be having a resistance meeting soon?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, "Heard anything from our vanishing leader?" By this, she meant Arietta. There were few who knew the resistance leader's identity, even on the board. Not to mention the woman had a way of shifting and disappearing.
Aston noticed her quickly covering her mouth causing him to briefly raise a brow but he quickly understood why. Due to his arrogant nature, his lip twitched slightly, a knowing look in his eyes before he masked it. He nodded, "I had someone to help me," he stated, yes it was still rather quick but compared- he shut those thoughts off, he needed to stop thinking about her. Aston couldn't help but roll his eyes, catching on to what she meant which could be taken as something much more 'dirty'. "I should be," he stated standing up from the chair. He often trained soldiers and wasn't often beaten. Aston nodded, "most likely, in replacement of tonight's cancelled mission if my assumption is correct," he stated. He glanced at the woman who assisted who had gotten back to working. She glanced at him and he nodded her his thanks before moving closer to the door, therefore closer to Ebony. "I haven't checked," he replied and got out his phone to check if he'd gotten any responses from any of the members in leadership.
Ebony straightened herself, acutely aware of how close he was when he moved towards the door, she sidestepped, towards the door, to keep the space. "Yes I'd guess that's a good assumption." She felt her own phone heavy in her pocket. There hadn't been any recent buzzes but she could only assume he was correct. "Well, shall we?" She asked, fluidly grabbing the door and pulling it open, back into the light of day. He looked nice with the light shining on him, almost pleasant. "Where shall we head next?" she asked, a small smile upon her lips.
Aston nodded, and if he was an over confident and smug person he would have said something that would express how much of an arrogant asshole he was, but alas Aston knew what he was capably of and found no need to defend himself nor voice cocky sneers. Aston checked the phone, seeing a few responses from some leadership members, brief replies in acknowledge to make sure he knew they'd got it. He hadn't received anything from the leader herself by the looks of it. Aston tucked his phone away then and looked at her. He blinked when she opened the door, a little longer than usual due to the light before he focused his silvery violet eyes on her and nodded before stepping closer, motioning her to head through while he easily reach over to grab the door at the top to keep it open. This of course meant there was limited space between them but space just the same because Aston made sure of it. Aston looked down at her, brow raised once more, "we?" he mused, "well where do you need to go, I can drop you off there," he stated just as stiffly as usual.
Ebony felt her breath catch in her throat at the closeness of his body as he stepped to take the door. She looked up at his odd eyes, meeting them with her own silver orbs. "I.." she began, trailing off. Where did she have to go? No where, really, aside from her empty torture chamber to clean up and dispose of the spy's dead body. "I don't really have anywhere to be, I guess..." she finished uncomfortably, trailing off. She pressed her lips together in a flat line to keep from frowning. "So I guess..back to the sewer.." she crossed her arms over her chest to keep from picking at her cuticles, "Unless you have somewhere else you think we should go..."
Aston met her gaze with his own usually blank and cold one. It was unusual, her eyes were though he shouldn't really be talking, they almost reminded him of cat's but the colour was wrong. He wasn't ignorant, he heard her breath catch but simply ignored it. Aston rested some of his weight on the door as he waited for her to think before she answered. He didn't have anywhere planned to go, besides home to work on his presentation. "Then we'll head to the sewers," he responded and finally looked away from her, "I will assist with the ridding of the spy."
Ebony's eyes widened at his offer, surprised he would even think of such a thing. "Oh," she said, "Well..thanks. Really, that means a lot." The words fumbled out of her mouth and she fiddled with the ends of her hair to keep from looking up at him. No one ever thought to assist her in such things. It was more than just the offer which surprised her, though. It was that he was the first one to make it, out of everyone she had ever aided. He was still incredibly close to her, so she quickly added, "Alright, well, let's be going then," and she turned, slipping past him in a soft, gentle motion, almost as if she were floating on air.
Aston glanced back at her raising an eyebrow, she acts like she'd never had an offer to assist with the cleaning. Originally he wouldn't bother but he didn't need to do anything dire and besides she'd made quick work of killing him off, if she'd tortured him for longer than the response would be much different. Besides the fact her attitude reminded him of Eliza, faintly, but he was cold but it didn't mean he was a complete asshole though a lot of people would say otherwise. He only hummed in response, brows furrowed as he watched her dart out before he followed her out, closing the door behind him and started making his way after her out and towards the car.
Ebony couldnt help but smile as she slipped past him and hustled towards the car, a small, hidden smile as she looked down at her feet, letting her hair shield her face. She looked back at Aston, waiting for him to unlock the vehicle, and once he did, she slipped back into the dark, cool interior. "So, you're absolutely certain you'll never let me drive this thing?" she asked with a playful wink. Of course, she meant it in a completely joking matter, she didn't have a huge desire to drive something so fast--she would constantly be fretting over crashing or even just slightly scratching the car.
Aston headed out at the building and towards where he parked his car, seeing Ebony already there waiting for him. He dug his hand into his pocket, releasing the clip off his belt loop and pressed the button to unlock it as he approached and rounded to the driver's side. He opened the door and slid in, closing the door behind him and put the key into the ignition. "Completely, absolutely certain that you won't ever," Aston replied, locking the car doors once she was in. He buckled himself up to the seat and glanced at her, "I doubt you want to that much anyway," he stated, smirking slightly before it was gone, replaced instantaneously by his usual cold, blank expression. He then looked away as he soon put the car into reverse, backed out of the parking area and soon was in drive, heading back towards the sewers.
