Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

I'm looking for help. I'm trying to find a book I read years ago and thought I still had it, but I donated it. Anyways, here is the info. I've searched Google books but to no avail.

A man gets sent back in time to an alternate world during a war. There are war planes. He's being chased. There is a brick wall and I think a candlestick that sort of had him transported to this realm....

Any help would be appreciated.

The cover of the book I think had a candlestick and was in red lettering. He's being chased be the police of the country, similar to the nazis.
