We first met Davran in Fuel to the Fire, the first of this trilogy. As with all trilogies, you really need to have read the first two books to know who the characters are and what their relationship is to each other. This book is the archetypal battle between good and evil and there remains the possibility that many, even most, will die. This book is a gift for lovers of the dragon! They exist in number and variety and play a significant role.
David Staniforth has a gift for description and I’ve enjoyed this aspect of all his fantasy works. He is also skilled in writing the sort of villain you love to hate. You will find both in here and a plot which will leave you on tenterhooks to the very end. Excellent stuff!
And the first book is free, while stocks last ;~)

5 of 5 stars
Read from March 13 to 14, 2014
This book is an absolutely amazing read, and a fantastic start to the series! It's wonderfully written, with well-rounded characters, a plot that moves along at a nice pace, and excellent descriptions.

What reviewers are saying about it:
“This book is an absolutely amazing read, and a fantastic start to the series!”
“I very much enjoyed this fantasy novel, romping through it in a few hours before reading through again more slowly, savouring the details.”
“I would recommend this book to fantasy lovers and people who like something a little different. David Staniforth is a wonderful creator of characters and i can never see myself getting tired of what his imagination puts to print.”
“This is one very awesome story. I loved how description and world details were fed through piece at a time and how it kept the pace nice and high.”
“I would absolutely without a doubt recommend this book to anyone who loves really well written fantasy books. Although it's technically a young adult book, I feel that it branches out with its content and would be a pleasure to read by someone of any age who enjoys fantasy!”
Go on, you’ve got nothing to loose; if you don’t enjoy it, I’ll give you a full refund ;~)

"I like to think anyone can be anything they want to be, given enough motivation. Sometimes evil men will do good, and good men will do evil. Each and every one of us has the capacity to travel to the extremes of both."
[section removed, for anyone who hasn't read books 1 & 2]
Wow. I wanted to take my time and savor this book by reading slowly but it started off with such a bang and was so damn exciting the whole time I just found that I couldn't stop reading! This was the longest book in the series, which was fantastic, because there were so many characters and intense situations it was so fantastic to get to spend more time with them.
There is a lot to love about this book. First and foremost, as usual, David Staniforth has brought his wonderfully descriptive writing style to the table once more and described even more places that I wanted to explore and discover. The city Santaxiom and Onktor Valley were two places that I loved reading about, they were so beautiful and exciting! There were new creatures and people (conchubar, onktor, etc) as well which added even more spice and flavor to the story.
Um also can I just say that the main evil character, Grizzle, was probably one of the most evil, terrifying, and downright disgusting characters I have ever read about? Seriously. Some of the scenes involving her really really freaked me out (in a good way). She was just about as scary as Jit the hedge witch and Emperor Jagang from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. There is literally nothing as scary to me as those characters so for Grizzle to even come CLOSE to that is a huge accomplishment, in my opinion.
My favorite aspect of the book was Davran. What an amazing female character. I absolutely love her and was so excited to watch her grow and become an even more amazing woman in this last book. There are too few characters like her, unfortunately. She totally rocks. :)
I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who loved fantasy stories with great characters!

From book one it started to grow and the more I read the more I wanted to read. I hate starting a book and have to stop for any reason once it has captured me. This was no exception. From start to finish of the first, on to the second and building to a crescendo in the third I was enthralled. Strong characters from start to finish. A stunning tale of highest merit. I loved it.
I loved Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern books and never thought I would find their equal, but In this trilogy I really think I have done so. I can not give a higher accolade than that!

Copies of the 3rd book are now beginning to sell, which is promising. Thanks to all that have already downloaded a copy.
As for the rest: go on, you know you want to ;~)

May I just say that the moderator's comments that authors cannot post free offers here unless they are participating in the discussions is understandable but unfair. I have been a member here for a while and I try to contribute when I can but things are very very tough for indie writers now. Most of us are spending 110% of our available time simply trying to promote ourselves so that we can stay afloat and keep writing for you guys to read.
I would love to have more time to participate in discussions but I simply don't have time. The result is that I feel guilty even thinking about posting my free offer here!
Indeed, I wish I didn't have to give away any books for free. I only do so as a desperate means to get noticed. To be made to feel guilty for trying to spread the word is a double load to bear!
Rest assured, ALL writers were once (and still are when we get any time, which is exceedingly rare these days) readers and we only started writing because we are passionate about books. I, for one, want to offer a reader the best possible experience and value for money.
Now, I guess its back to the writing... If anybody feels I can post my free book here without feeling bad about it, please let me know.

In fact it's probably counter-productive. I think you have to take promotion seriously, you're not promoting a book, you're promoting you as a writer and drive-by postings doesn't get anybody any friends :-(

There are so many independent books out there that if they all clamoured for attention we would be utterly swamped.
It's a bit like walking down the high street and being constantly approached by the charity muggers (aka chuggers). After a while you start to ignore all of them on principle - and if that happened in the book world we would all be in trouble.
We have a family rule. On principle, we never buy from an unsolicited source, whether that is a door-to-door salesman, a telephone call from someone we don't know or someone who stops us in the street.
But the counterpoint to this is that we always buy from friends or relatives if they have something to sell.
I don't think we're alone in having these two little house rules.

Go on download a copy and help me push it to number one; you've nothing to lose, and you might actually enjoy the book.
Having spent her entire life disguised as a boy to avoid the risk of being forced into sexual slavery, fifteen year old Davran finds herself transported to a world thought to be legend. With sunlight, an abundance of food and people that trust, this world is everything her home is not. She could be happy, she could disclose the love she feels for Ronyn (the dragon trainer’s son), but when Hesperus (the Keeper-of-Knowledge) discovers her, she may have to return to a world of misery where even suicide is no escape and where the most frightening monster is not the dragons or the razor-hounds, but the tyrannical ruler, Saurian.

Exploring the cellar and discovering that the amulet opens a mysterious labyrinth,
Alloria embarks on a quest in search of answers, a quest that flings
her into an adventure brimming with danger, pain, love, magic, and brutal honesty.

The prophecy naming Davran Fuel to the Fire seems to be coming true, as her previous actions have only served to make matters worse. The trend continues as Davran faces an unexpectedly tenacious enemy – an enemy that has been biding her time – an enemy that truly is the stuff of nightmares.

And what do I expect for this act of generosity? Nothing, other than you download the book, possibly read it, hopefully enjoy it. If all three occur and you'd like to give a review that would be brilliant, recommending to others would be even better.
