Casey (grizzly_bear) Is anyone else finding it hard to read because you got too much going on? I have to work at night and I am going to school full time. Not to mention time with my wife is strained. Does anyone have any reading tips or advice? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments Yes! I'm in year 11 so have so much stuff to do for my GCSEs. All my year are in most lunchtimes and have extra lessons after school most days of the week, not to mention I'm supposed to be revising. I just make space for reading by prioritising it. Half of my friends have jobs but I think I need time to read more than extra money. It's going to sound weird, but reading is really important for my emotional/mental well-being.

All I can suggest it reading while going to school/work. Depending on your job you could also possibly listen to audiobooks. I find that if I'm doing something that just involves my hands or if I'm doing something quite repetitive I can focus on an audiobook and still get it done well.

Casey (grizzly_bear) Thank you for the suggestions. I agree completely too with having a better mental and emotional well-being. That is mainly why I need reading in my life and I'm suffering because of lack of. If I could focus, I would do audiobooks :). I work at the wonderful establishment that is Wal-Mart. (Sarcasm) So that is out of the question. Thanks for the tips!

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments I had the same problem when I was in school as well. The trick for me was to read a few minutes before bed every night. Just that few minutes a day helped me keep my sanity a little bit.

Casey (grizzly_bear) Kara,
that sounds like a plan I could possibly stick to. Thanks for the tip!

Casey (grizzly_bear) I know I am dreadfully behind on my goal of 50 books. Accounting classes are kicking my tush. All the help I can get from this awesome group of people would be greatly appreciated. So far, all amazing tips and it has rekindled my spirit in reading. (Now back to studying lol)

Tricia | 132 comments I absolutely understand you. I'm a law student and I have so much classes and also so much to learn on my own, that I don't have time to read. The only thing I invented is taking book/e-reader with myself everywhere I go and when there is some pause, for example when I'm waiting in a line in a shop or doctor, I read few pages.

Stefani - SpelingExpirt (speling_expirt) | 585 comments I'm behind on my books so I probably shouldn't be giving any advice :P I would say however that something I find very effective is to use a book to reward myself when I've finished some coursework or worked an extra long work shift. I also make sure to always take a book with me to work.
