Emma Jaye | 3693 comments This is a general group, specifically for works over 125,000 words in length. Both single novels, and those in single volume ‘bundles’ are acceptable as long as only one review is required. Maximum length of submission is 350,000.
In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the one calendar month per book time limit.

If you don’t agree to that tell me now so that I can find another member who will do so.
There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 522 comments @Emma, 151K words, 525 pages: The Governess Noorilhuda

I think I'll be done with G73 in two weeks time.

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments as this is a new type of group, I'm not sure how long it'll take to fill up, but I think you might well be finished around the time that this one actually starts.

I would like to join. My book is science fiction, 198,000 words.

All very interesting Pearson, but you neglected to remind me that you've already reviewed Noorilhuda's book and I need the goodreads links not the amazon one.

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 522 comments @Emma, just logged in - I actually don't know how you manage to do the mod duty so accurately & smoothly because seriously it's too much work for one person to juggle! (and no, this isn't butter-talking!)

message 9: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Smiles, I work from home so I fit it in amongst all my other jobs. Re-juggling, having 4 kids and 3 paying jobs is a good training ground for this. I can't remember the last time I actually watched TV.

Hence the saying, 'if you want a job done, give it to a busy person'

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 522 comments Okay, Emma, just info: I've reviewed G.J.'s So What Trilogy's Book One and am reviewing Book Three for G73 (in fact I'll put up the review this weekend) - and haven't reviewed Book One at all.

Can I join even if my book is less than 125,000 words?

message 18: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Yes you can, as long as you're happy to review the longer works in the group.

I'll add your book now.

message 26: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments until we have 10 members, there is room. However we only accept published works on amazon. I can't find your book on amazon.

message 27: by Emma (last edited Oct 16, 2015 10:07AM) (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments When its on amazon, give me shout and I'll add you to the list. Its just because the group rules require reviews to be placed on amazon.com and .uk, if your book isn't there, your reviewers can't fulfil their obligations to you.

D.C. Wolf | 25 comments Hello, I hope you have room for my recently published book, q-cave.

Thank you.

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Welcome D C and Michael.

message 30: by D.C. (new)

D.C. Wolf | 25 comments I am new to this and just want to be sure I understand how it works.

We wait until all the slots are full, and then the Group leader assigns us the four books to read?

Once we are assigned, we contact each personally via email to receive/send the pdf file?

(By the way, I have not been reviewed, or have reviewed anyone in this group before. I think I was supposed to answer that in advance.)

Thanks.

message 31: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments You've got it exactly D.C. Any questions please ask.

message 33: by Noorilhuda (new)

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 522 comments Emma hi, just an update: D. Miller just reviewed my book 'Catharsis' under Indie Review Initiative Group - on a fluke, because the actual guy disappeared and she was next in line.

And it is the same D. Miller right below my name here. I know you've kept G. J. Griffiths and me apart, can the order be shifted slightly so that I don't end up reviewing D. Miller's work?

I've submitted the lengthy book ('The Governess') for this round.

message 34: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Yep, no problem, she'll have to review you again though.
If this round ever gets off the starting line.

message 39: by D.C. (new)

D.C. Wolf | 25 comments If we are in the group already, and have a free promo out, can we link here, so others can grab in advance? Thought it might be easier, since it is free anyway. I realize we haven't filled a few slots or assigned, but anyone can grab it, and I can send the final one(s) to those late to be added if they get my book.

Let me know and I can supply the details.

Or, does this cause too much confusion?

message 40: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments That would be fine, although I'd recommend that nobody starts reading another members book before the start date, in case the order has to be changed around. We want to avoid reciprocal reviews at all costs in this group.

Okay, Thanks Emma.

The promo at amazon has been incredible. About 580 downloads just for today so far. Hard Sci-fi is a tough sell, so this number may seem small to some.

Here's the linkie for anyone that is interested in downloading pre-reading period:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015...?

It's free through Thursday, Nov. 5th.

I just gave a copy away to my UPS guy, lol.
I had a box of copies delivered today.
He was so excited for me, I signed one for him. :)
That's one review checked off, he promised!

Richard Becker | 13 comments If its okay with you, I do have a 150,000 novel on Amazon. I'd be happy to join this group. Please let me know.

Thanks.

message 47: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Please add your goodreads links Richard

message 49: by J. (new)

J. Ross (jelleross) I would be interested if there's still space. Fantasy, 160k. It's the second in the series though, so maybe that wouldn't work? I'll let the mods decide. :)

As Dragons from Sleep

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments If it is essential to understand this book, you could send a brief synopsis to your reviewers, although they are not obliged to read it.
I'll add you in.
