You're welcome. Read that one about a year or two ago.
I'm looking for a book that was written fairly recently, about a young man with magical abilities that can reach into books that have been published, to retrieve items that are written about in the books. The books have to have been read by other people in order for the magic to work. There are other magicians like him, and the story takes place in the modern world. He meets a (warrior?) woman who was grown from an acorn by another magician who had retrieved the acorn from another book. Some books that are too dangerous can be 'sealed' to prevent the items in them from being misused.
