message 302: by Missy (new)

Missy | 1477 comments Sounds good, Loriidae. It's been half a year since I've joined a BR/BOTM. It'll be nice to discuss books again.

Mariana | 2692 comments For my RATA challenge, I plan to read Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone for September's Victorian book. Would anyone like to BR with me and Darbella?

message 304: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Sridhar (angellus08) | 343 comments Oh wow as interesting as this book sounds it also might kill me. I am soooo intrigued to try it but I really really really don't do angst.

message 305: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments I can do angst only if it is done really well and the book is able to bring me out of my depression. Hopefully this one can.

message 306: by Missy (new)

Missy | 1477 comments I don't think I will enjoy reading about the hero's addiction. Maybe if it was another book by Charlotte Featherstone (like, from her House of Rohan series), I might join.

message 307: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments This will be my first book by Charlotte Featherstone. Depending on how I like the writing, I would be open to trying something else by her.

@Mariana,

I’m looking at the sample to see if I want to read. It seems to deal w dark subject matter.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Addicted is dark erotica.

I finished the sample. The writing is voluptuous. I’m in. Just 1-clicked it.

Is anybody interested in buddy reading The Wolf and the Dove? I am reading it for my bodice ripper category and think a buddy read might help.

For Jonathan’s story, I can post the thread tonight or you are welcome to post also if you want it up sooner.

This weekend is good for me, I will be slow as well as I have the paperback and will only read a little in the evenings. Although I have read it so many times I could probably recite it. :)

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments I haven’t seen anyone in this group who likes bodice rippers.
If I had seen anyone here who likes them I would have jumped all over them the way Dino does when Fred Flinstone comes home from work.

Yes, welcome Andrea! I read bodice rippers once a year, though I think one I read earlier this year would qualify as well.

Yes Uvi, I am fairly sure you will be fine. Each book is a separate couple. Any references that you don't understand Joanna and I will do our best to remember.

The first book sets up the town and the group of girls, but I don't think it would be necessary to read first. I did; and Susanna is reading now, which is why we don't plan to start for a week. The cliffhanger prequel is free on Amazon I think of you want to try a taste.

I listened to the audiobook for Captives of the Night by Loretta Chase and didn't enjoy it. I've yet to find another book by LC that's as good as Lord of Scoundrels.

I've tried reading Captives of the Night a couple of times but could never finish it. It does have some good reviews, though.

Missy, I really liked The Last Hellion, which is kind a sequel to Lord of Scoundrels. (about a friend of his). I also enjoyed Don't Tempt Me and Not Quite a Lady.

Andrea | 635 comments Hi all :) Since

Bringing Down the Duke (A League of Extraordinary Women, #1) by Evie Dunmore Bringing Down the Duke

is still on sale ($1.99/ €1.37), does anyone want to read it with me? I was a bit hesitant, because lately most HRs I read were let-downs, so I've been avoiding them, but I've heard good things about this one, so I want to give it a chance. Anyone interested in reading it with me?
