Divergent is coming to our cinemas pretty soon, to some parts of the world this week already.

Now after you have read the book, are you ready to see it? What do you think of the trailer? What do you think of the actors' choice? If you were a casting director, who would have you picked instead?

It'll be interesting to compare our thoughts before and after seeing the movie :) I honestly do hope it'll be good on its own.

Katey (mrscoachlady) | 5 comments I just returned from seeing the Divergent film. I believe the book will always be better than any film made based off of books. The movie was good, but I think they could have put some additional parts in the movie that were in the book. And I think they changed some of the parts too much, unlike what the book depicted. Otherwise, the film was a good one. It makes me want to find a few thrills of my own.

message 3: by Jonathan (new) - added it

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 129 comments I have to wait till April 10 to see the film but I am looking forward to the occasion. I have a couple of other films I am more interested in first of all though.
The trailer interests me, but I wasn't as blown away by it as I was of the Maze Runner trailer. I did like the pick of actors for the roles, however!

message 4: by Eve (new) - rated it 2 stars

Eve | 11 comments I read the Divergent trilogy, which was suggested by someone who compared it to the Hunger Games trilogy. (Yeah, I'm never taking your recommendations ever again, you know who you are). Then, of course, I had to watch the movie, hoping it would be better than the book. Maybe I was trying to justify the time I wasted on the books. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment. I agree with Jonathan -- Maze Runner is more up my alley.

Elena | 109 comments I liked this movie! It was - to me - as good as the book, maybe even more entertaining because i wasn't as nit-picky as with the book ; however, there were parts in the movie that were needlessly changed from the book! I guess some of these changes were made so that the movie would be PG-13 and not as violent as the book... I remember a particularly gruesome chapter in the book describing someone's eyes being gouged out in their dorms overnight - this was never in the movie, etc...

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments I think he was only stabbed in the eye, but that's still plenty gruesome! Yeah, I don't like seeing things like that either, let alone letting kids see that :(

I am pretty sure they filmed that scene and that it'll be on dvd/bluray, but wasn't in the movie right because of that PG rating. No way it would be the movie to be seen by younger audience if they included it :) I guess they thought it won't matter to the audience, because we didn't see much of the actor who was stabbed. However, I think that weakened our antagonism toward Peter. In the movie I perceived him just being slimy and obnoxious, but in the book he was right like an incarnation of evil.

Elena | 109 comments Yes exactly Zeljka... while that part of the book was totally nasty and i didnt want to see it on screen - Peter didnt seem evil enough in the movie!
