Read that Skye. Didn't know what to make of it really. Seemed a bit pointless to me, going over an old crime, where there could be no definitive outcome. Same questions remain.

Skye | 636 comments Yes, and it was simply grisly.

message 453: by Philip (new)

Philip Where is the best place to buy books online? Still in the old tech. of reading books, paperback...etc.

message 454: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments I only read books: I search on the Barnes and Noble site, and they do have a club, and they do have frequent 15% off coupons

message 457: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments yes, many people do.
I would if I could call in my information, but they have no number online.

message 458: by Laurie (new)

Laurie | 2 comments I buy a lot of books at half.com. You can buy for cheap! Look it up. But they aren't newly released.

message 459: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments thanks, Laurie.

Paul Have any members heard of an author by the name of Johan Theorin? He is a Swedish writer. There is a series of books by him called the 'Oland Quartet'. I have the 1st 3 of the series, but can't seem to find the 4th book on Amazon. Maybe it hasn't been translated into English yet, but I'm reluctant to start the series, not knowing if the final book is available. The English name of the 4th in the series is called 'The Ghost in the Grave'.

message 461: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments Paul, no

Will try Barnes & Noble.

message 463: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments that's where I buy all my books

message 464: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Hi Paul I have The first 3 of the Oland Quartet in my basket on amazon, I can see no sign of 4th being published yet, there is a mention on his official web page that there will be a 4th as each book representing a season, the first being autumn and last summer. He has just published The Asylum but doesn't look related......I'm going to go ahead and buy as they got great reviews

Yes Deborah, they have had great reviews. The 4th has been written, but i don't think it's been translated as yet. It's Swedish title is 'Rörgast'. I love the Scandinavian authors. They have such a different & original take on Thrillers.

message 466: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Me too, I loved steig larssons trilogy, Åsa Larsson also fantastic, some great tv shows too

Paul Deborah wrote: "Me too, I loved steig larssons trilogy, Åsa Larsson also fantastic, some great tv shows too"

Again, i have to agree. Read Larssons trilogy & a few by the other author you mentioned. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was great, if a bit harrowing in places.

Skye | 636 comments I am tying up Linwood Barclay's No Time for Good bye, selected for me by my book pal, Deborah. I recently purchased Brian Freeman's Stalked, Molinari's The Rosary Girls, John Sanford's Rules of Prey and Karin Slaughter's Blind Sighted. These were recommended by Marian, Deborah and Ter'e. I have tons to read.

I have several of Freeman's 'Stride' series, but haven't read them as yet. 'Stalked' is the 3rd in the series. Have you read the previous 2 Skye?

message 474: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments I have Stalked; however, the first two are only in e-books, and that is something I don't do. Electro magnetic fields, Paul.

message 475: by Aymen (last edited Aug 22, 2014 07:18AM) (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh I wanted to pick a different book this time, a good drama or romance, something about relationships or family, i saw a cover with two little twin sisters. The book "sisterland"by Curtis Sittenfeld is about two twins who chose different paths, but they share an old secret that reappears when Violet predicts an earthquake. So far, i like it and i will try to read this type of books, besides thrillers. :)

message 476: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments Aymen; I have been thinking the same and even e-mailing my other Good reads friends; we basically concur that switching genres is not only a great idea but a healthy one.

message 477: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh You re absoluetly right Skye, there are a lot of different great books to discover, and so far i find reading drama pretty realaxing and interesting.

message 478: by Paul (new)

Paul Skye wrote: "I have Stalked; however, the first two are only in e-books, and that is something I don't do. Electro magnetic fields, Paul."

Ha ha Skye. Do you use a mobile phone? EM directly to your brain. LOL

message 479: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments I don't Paul; I use my landline phone and I always have a mobile in my purse, just in case of emergencies.

message 480: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Philip wrote: "Where is the best place to buy books online? Still in the old tech. of reading books, paperback...etc."

I like to buy books from betterworldbooks.com. I go there to get books I can't find via my library, affordable e-books/audiobooks. They donate books to the underprivileged for every book you buy.

message 481: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) The last book I bought was in a clearance bin at B&N: The Testament of Jessie Lamb by Jane Rogers

message 482: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments Kirsten, this looks good and B&N always run specials.

message 483: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Yeah, but I rarely leave my house to buy books. My mom had a coupon on wanted a new Gazzetteer, so I went with. They had lots of books on my lists, but most of them were available at my library or on my library's Overdrive site.

message 484: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments Sometimes I order, but mostly I go in person to pick them up...sometimes Walmart has the books I like at a very minimal cost.

message 485: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Wal-Mart???? *makes the sign of the cross* NEVER! NEVER!

Seriously, if I want something cheap I will use the library, interlibrary loan, or order it used. But I will NEVER go to Wal-Mart for ANYTHING on principle.

message 486: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments LOL
I understand; I really do. I personally do not like going there for many reasons.

The Charity shops here in Jersey, UK, 3-4 vary in prices, but The Jersey Hospice is offering all books at half price 50 pence instead of £1.00

Having said that, any I want to read again, I then purchase.
