Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Just got approved for ARC of As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust (Flavia de Luce, #7) by Alan Bradley by Alan Bradley, which I believe is being published Jan 6 2015.

Also through NetGalley- Cover Your Eyes by Mary Burton and Stranger at Sunset by Eden Baylee .

And it didn't cost me anything!

Sue

I'm actually trying not to buy anything new for a while and try and work through my backlog. And I've just discovered being an Amazon Prime member means I can borrow the odd good book. Another perk was a freebie pre release From The Cradle by Louise Voss and Mark Edwards.

message 669: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments I ran over to The Goodwill Bookstore this morning and bought 4 books. Three are luscious cookbooks.....and the fourth was the only book, they had, by Richard Montanari......"Merciless". I see that it is no. 3 in the series. I'll tuck this back until I find books 1 and 2.

It looks really good. I can tell I will enjoy the writing of this author.

Lavada (kraftyvada) | 436 comments Elaine you have a cute puppy dog too!
I love old book shops! not many around any more

message 678: by Lavada (new)

Lavada (kraftyvada) | 436 comments Sue those are all authors I have put on my list from the great recommendations from this group, except Greg Olson. Im looking forward to getting them and trying them out!

message 679: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Yes Lavada. I will receive them on Tuesday. I have so many great books to read.

message 680: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 146 comments Lavada - everyone thinks my dog is a puppy but he is seven years old. He is a patterjack (cross between Patterdale and Jack Russell). Thing is, not only is he the size of a puppy, but he also still acts like one - so he is often referred to as the tw%tterjack or pratterjack when he does something daft.

message 681: by Lavada (new)

Lavada (kraftyvada) | 436 comments he is cute! I just lost mine a week ago so now I notice all these babies! they are always our pups! or kitties! Minnesota Chris lost her kitty of 16 years 2 weeks ago tomorrow. We are all pet lovers too!

message 682: by Amber (new)

message 685: by Sean, Moderator (new)

Sean Peters | 10517 comments Mod
I know, there were two I was very pleased with.

But have another 12-14 books to read first, as promised to all the authors here, and group book pal reads, and more.

Just not enough hours in the day.

message 686: by Skye (new)

Skye | 636 comments Sean, they do look good.

message 687: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 313 comments I went to my favorite used bookstore on Tuesday and got several books, among them Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline Cop Town by Karin Slaughter Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke and The Death Collectors (Carson Ryder, #2) by Jack Kerley .
I have never read anything by Joanne Fluke or Jack Kerley. I hope they are good.

I then went to the library sale and got two boxes of books. My niece works there so I get the books free. I got 3 Michael Connelly, 8 Lisa Scottoline, a Jeffrey Deaver, 2 Harlan Coben, 3 Lee Child and many more. I think I need a new book shelf! :)

message 688: by Sue (new)

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments You are braver than me - I am too frightened to count mine!
When we moved house my husband found my linen cupboard contained no linen - just books!
He thought he might lose some in the move - but I similarly thought I might lose his TV remote, so we struck a truce. *:D
