Good grief!! I think there's a '12-step program' for this particular affliction. It's a good one to have though, isn't it?

Paul I just acquired 'Tarantula' (aka. Mygale) by Thierry Jonquet. It's a psychological thriller/horror novel & looks rather hair-raising & not at all for the squeamish.

It was made into a movie; "The Skin I Live In (Spanish: La piel que habito) is a 2011 Spanish psychological thriller film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, and Roberto Álamo. The Skin I Live In is based on Thierry Jonquet's novel Mygale, first published in French and then in English under the title Tarantula. The film premiered in May 2011 in competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival, and won Best Film Not in the English Language at the 65th British Academy Film Awards.' -Wikipedia.

Full description is here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Skin...

& of course it's listed on GR. Mygale by Thierry Jonquet

message 968: by Paul (new)

Paul Here's another potentially intriguing novel i acquired today.
I loved The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham , having read it as a teenager & again last year. I enjoyed it even more on my 2nd reading. Here's a sequel, The Night of the Triffids by Simon Clark , i got today, not by Wyndham, of course, but apparently faithful to the original & the story resumes 25 years after Wyndham's classic.
Needless to say, it's on my TBR list.

I read Sleepers many years ago and it was an excellent book. I went to the movies to see the film. After reading the book, I had to see the movie and loved it as well. I need to add this to my favorites list.

message 989: by Deborah (new)

Deborah I spend £20 a week on amazon ($30) and then there are the books I buy in charity shops. Usually use marketplace so can buy 5/6 books a week but if it's a new release I'm waiting on my full 'book allowance' can be used in a week :(

Thank you Sue and Happy New Year to you and your family as well! I am curious to see how you like the Kristina Ohlsson books.

message 991: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments I know Dawn. I can't wait to start them. The desk in my office has stacks of new books in various series, including Kristina Ohlsson books. I still have 3 books to read from Netgalley and 4 books that authors asked me to read and review. Lots of company over Christmas, and to night we are going out for Chinese food and then come home and watch the ball fall in NY. (Don't like the Canadian entertainment, on TV).

message 992: by Dawn (new)

Dawn G | 692 comments I totally understand. After reading this thread, I added ten new titles to my TBR list and can't wait to read The Crooked House. Wait a minute, I added six new titles on Monday and can't wait to read several of those either. Oh Boy!
