message 1056: by Paul (new)

Paul Picked these up today: God's Pocket by Pete Dexter , Train by Pete Dexter , Deadwood by Pete Dexter , Spooner by Pete Dexter & The Paperboy by Pete Dexter .

I'm familiar with 'Paris Trout' by the same author, but that's about it. They all look very interesting & all the stories are entirely different from each other. Worth a look, i think.

But you are lucky Janet, living in UK as Belinda's books are not easy to get hold of in Canada from Amazon.ca. The two that I just ordered I ordered through another source, where you have to pay shipping.

I totally understand. 7 authors contacted me over Christmas, and asked if I would read their book, and I put them off until Jan, plus I have 3 books to read from Netgalley...plus all my stacks of great books here to read. I UNDERSTAND drowning.

Mitsy (mitsyc) | 14 comments The only two novels I've bought so far this year are A Game of Thrones, because of it's excellent Kindle price, and All the Broken Pieces. I bought All the Broken Pieces after going through hundreds of TBR Goodreads books, over almost two months time. All the Broken Pieces is the one book that stayed with me. I hurried and finished a couple of books because I wanted to read All the Broken Pieces. :) I just bought it and will start it now. Yeah! :)

All the Broken Pieces by Cindi Madsen

Freaking love the cover, too. :)

Thanks for that info Pat, as it isn't that easy to get UK books, or really expensive. I will check it out.

They were having a kindle sale last night. Two of the books were 99 cents and two of the books were $1.99. I have also bought the Rosie Project which is a book one of my book clubs is reading.

All of John Connolly's books are great. His writing has a poetic style to it.

I strongly recommend his books. I mentioned them several months back :)

Perri:

I keep a detailed spreadsheet that lists the books that I have read, the author, when I read it, the genre, and if I liked it, if I own it or downloaded it, or checked it out at our library. I know. Too much detail. But it sucks to get home from the library and start reading a book only to discover that you have already read it.

Ter'e:

Yes. I have read Every Dead Thing. I really like John Connolly and his character Charlie Parker. However, TBA, it is a dark series. I have also read Dark Hollow, The Killing Kind, and Black Angel. I liked them all. Black Angel took me strange turns but still was good. You definitely want to start out with Every Dead Thing and then Dark Hollow. After that, I do not believe that it matters. Charlie Parker is a good PI detective character development. And the stories are like no other. Enjoy them.

I've been approved today Hades by Candice Fox on Netgalley. A recommendation from Elaine, looked quite interesting so I went for it!

I also need to stop boxsetting until the early hours and pick up my reading. TV show Brothers and Sisters is what I'm trawling through at the mo.

message 1099: by Deborah (new)

Deborah I'm terrible for tv shows. I don't watch British soaps so you would rarely catch me watching actual tv, instead I'm in my library with my kindle or my sons larger tablet watching all the US shows. As well as starting full series I watch The Blacklist, Greys Anatomy, Hannibal (when it's on) Bones, Criminal minds, just starting House of Cards. Also had marathon of House and Banshee ( amazing) also love Hemlock Grove. Past favourites 24, Prison Break, Heroes, White Collar, I'm sure to be missing some....
