Aymen Ben cheikh So i went to the bookstore this morning, i was supposed to buy "the Shining" for March read, but i couldn't find it. It was their last month, so i went to another bookstore, same. So i decided to pick another book. There were other King's books, but not the ones i wanted to read. Finally i picked " the Kill List" by Frederic Forsyth. The books looks interesting, my first book by this author. (first time i hear about him)

Hi Aymen
Forsyth has written several great books that have been made into great movies. The Day of the Jackal and The Odessa File are classics.

That said, don't stop looking for The Shining.

message 1205: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Thanks Tom, i ll keep looking for the the Shining, i ll find it again in the bookstore someday. And if i like ''the Kill list'' i ll read others Forsyth books.

Rhonda Lee Wunder | 386 comments I went to the used book store looking for Ice Station
Zebra. They didn't have it. I ended up with A Brush for Death, Leftover Dead, Murder over Easy, Night Watch, The Frightened Man, A Perfect Ghost. All of this for a little over $14 plus a bookmark thrown in.
When I went to my book club a week or so ago, I stopped at their library story and bought Buster Midnights Café, The Exact Same Moon, Work Dying For, Murder in Plain Sight. My house is to full.

Oooh, another one who likes it. I feel quite depressed by it all since I'm desperate to get some reading done and equally desperately short of time.

I agree.

message 1213: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh I have just bought a big book which contains "the Talisman" and "Black House" by Stephen King and Peter Straub, it's a fantasy horror book. I wasn't sure about it but i saw good reviews and friends said i should read it (hey E) . i read" Game of Thrones" last year and i loved it, i was looking for another fantasy book, and since i m a King's fan i think i might like "the Talisman" and "Black House". 1500 pages to read, cool!

message 1214: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments Not read 'Talisman' Aymen, but I read and enjoyed 'Black House'. My favourite King book so far was 'The Stand'.

message 1215: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Hi David, i m glad that you enjoyed "Black House" , and i heard good things about "the Stand", it's a book that i have to read, as soon as i can find it in bookstores here in Tunisia.

message 1216: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 157 comments I loved The Talisman, and also adored The Black House, I easily got lost within those pages.
And I agree with David, The Stand is my fave King book. Especially the unabridged version.

message 1217: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Hi Andrew, thanks for posting, now i want to read "the Talisman" and "Black House" as soon as i finish "22-11-63", which is a great special King's book. " the Stand" seems great too, i have it on my to read list. There is also a book i saw , "Different Seasons" with four stories i think, it looks interesting. Personnaly i loved " Firestarter" and "the Long Walk", the last one made me think for months after reading it.

With Book Bub I do "gain" books on a daily basis free straight on to my kindle.

Have over 30 books already !

message 1219: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Richards (lisadawnrichards) | 70 comments I also get some free books off of BookBub for My Kindle nearly every day. There are some days that none of the books on that site interest me. Since last year between BookBub and buying other books I have about 1,927 books on My Kindle. It totally amazes Me how many books a 64 Gig can hold and I still have free space for more books. LOL

Yeah, I lasted about 5 mins and bought The Girl With A Clock For A Heart by Peter, Swanson and SJ Watson's next book, Second Life. I didn't even like his first but I've decided to give the next one a go, that, and it was was fairly cheap!! Seen mixed reviews for Clock For A Heart but I'm a sucker for punishment!!! :-\

Very well done, Ty, not easy or cheap to get a listing on Bookbub. I hope it pays off for you.

I see you're at #1 in the US free thriller chart. Excellent achievement.

Thank you David. I have been banging their door for more than a year now.

I would have loved it if they gave me a slot 2 weeks later since that would have coincided with my fourth release. However they said take it or leave it!

I haven't checked the rankings but in the morning there was a nice effect on the other books too.

It was a 5 star from me Kimberley. Excellent book. You're very good at scouting special offers on Amazon! If you see any good deals, please day.

Steve Mosby's 50/50 Killer is on offer at £1.99 today.

Hi Kimberley. I am watching for "I Let You Go", to drop in price. I checked Book Depository yesterday and it was $21.80 Cdn. Waiting for a paperback or Kindle version more reasonable. Enjoy!

message 1232: by [deleted user] (new)

Sue, it went down to £4.99, I didn't mind paying this for a book with such great reviews.
It was originally £6.99 which is over my personal limit for an eBook.

message 1233: by [deleted user] (new)

I will do Janet!
I keep books I want on my wish list, and check every couple of days.

message 1234: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments So that is for a ebook on Amazon UK?

message 1235: by Janet , Moderator (new)

I agree, Kimberley, especially when quite often you can get a paperback for less. As little as £2 - £3.

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Thanks for the suggestion Ty and Janet. I will do this.

message 1240: by [deleted user] (new)

That's right Janet!
Even £4.99:is slightly high, but I did really want to read it, and knowing Amazon the price would shoot up again soon and I'd be waiting months!

And I'm too impatient!

Plus I need to fulfill my book-buying addiction. ;)

message 1241: by Ty (new)

Ty Patterson | 401 comments another idea for reducing book buying costs.

try the Kindle lending scheme.

essentially you can lend to other Kindle owners, so long as the books are subscribed in the program.

i guess the lender and 2nd reader will have to work out some cost sharing.

also - if you have a paperback copy of a book, often you can buy the ebook free - provided the book is subscribed in the Amazon Match program.

message 1242: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Thanks so much Ty for the great suggestions. I checked Book Depository but it is $21.80 Cdn for the book, and I feel that is too much. I have just sent the author a email.

Sue, check out eBay and Amazon used as well if you're up for used books.

the price of print books is a real issue.

it's one of the reasons i'm going really slow on converting my books to print.

depending on the size of the books, the minimum i have to price my print books is around $12.99. that price gets dictated to me by Amazon.

that's a ridiculous amount.

the books look good in print. Christine and Jean should be having my second with them by tomorrow and will be able to see for themselves.

still, looks the ego stroke alone are not enough to justify those kind of prices.

several on our group read print only. i wonder how they can afford to unless they use the library.

message 1244: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Yes Ty I read a lot of books, both paperback and on my Kindle, so when the price goes over $15 Cdn I think twice, unless I really want to read it. I will definitely check eBay, as listed as more on Amazon, plus shipping as from independent suppliers. (close to $30Cdn) Forget it!
