Great buy, Janet. I had to spend $3.99 on that one. Just looked, and still $3.99 in the States.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments @Aaron and Lynn, I read Doctors decades ago! Probably late 80s when I first started my job as full staff member at the clinic. I LOVED it and still have the tattered old paperback copy that I read. Some day I will read it again to see what I think about it now.

I bought it when it first came out but I still haven't read it. I love the concept. As I said to someone this morning, 'Take a guy who can look at people and see that they will die soon and drop him in the middle of one of America's greatest natural disasters. What's not to love about that?'

Great haul, Tom. I really liked All the Pretty Horses, the first book in a trilogy and I'm sure that the Connelly book has to be good.

I read Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy several years ago and it is wonderful. The Concrete Blonde was the first Michael Connelly book that I ever read but I want to go back and read all of his Harry Bosch books in order.

I've also read Plainsong but picked it up as Kent Haruf just passed away and I'm sure I will want to reread his series. Nobody has captured my native Colorado as well as he did in his series about the fictional town of Holt.

The rest are all new for me and I'm looking forward to reading them.

Lisa (ylisa7) | 381 comments Too busy to read like I usually do:crying: but I did go the the Buck a Bag sale today:ok::ok:

I scored at the BUCK A BAG sale. Not as good as last year but still good. Spent $3.00 and got 70 pounds of stuff…yes I weighed it, lol. 3 pairs of jeans, 1 shirt, 112 Cooking magazines:):), 31 books and 3 DVD's. I love this sale.

Tom Mathews | 671 comments I snagged a free pre-release copy of The Good Neighbor The Good Neighbor by A.J. Banner by A.J. Banner via Amazon's Kindle First offer. It sounds interesting.

I also spent a whopping $.99 on a Kindle reprint of Solomon's Vineyard Solomon's Vineyard by Jonathan Latimer . I'd never heard of it before but as GR friend Melki says, "you had me at grave-robbing, religious cults, kinky sex, and whorehouse violence. Yeah, I know. I'm easily amused."

message 1687: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh a lot of titles on my head, but i think i will buy the "Divergent" trilogy next time, i liked the idea of the society devided into factions that rejects the persons who don't fit in one of these factions, or fit in them all. I think it's not that different of our societies. And i saw the two first movies, good enough. With "a Song of Ice and Fire", "Lord of the Rings" and "Divergent" and of course i need to read some other books, i will be busy this year.

When you're an Amazon Prime member 3 maybe 4 books are offered to you for free as a perk as of the first of each month. You get to choose either either one, sometimes two. I don't select one each month, depends on what's being offered. If they look crap I don't bother.

In its defense, sometimes they offer some pretty good books. Bird Box was one I was offered and that has been fairly popular with the GR crowd.

It was just over the border in NC. This church had their first sale last summer. It was pretty awesome. They do it once a year. Last year by 8am there were 100 people on line….this year there was 500. It was very very crowded. Not too many books though. That's how I ended up with all the Taste of Home magazines. I love to cook and bake:)

Aymen Ben cheikh Just came back from the bookstore (it feels great just to be there after 4 months), i came home with the book i had in mind, "Needful Things" by Stephen King :D I really loved the idea of the book, a new store opens in a small town, people can find there the things they want at a low price, but the owner ask every customer to do a small thing. And appearently there going to be big consequences in this city. I will read it as soon as i finish "the Shining" then i will post a review.
