Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Thanks Ty.......I have made note of all these and will keep my eyes open for these particular books too.
Appreciate the info.......

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) I just inherited a few Readers Digest Select Editions. They have four books each. I just got some great books by Lee Child, Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Jeffrey Deaver, and many more!

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) I just bought jo nesbo the leopard and alex by pierre Lemaitre, I was hanging around town so popped in the heart foundation shop I was a bit surprised at the prices tho paperbacks £2:50 and £4:99 for hardbacks, other charity shops in the area sell 2 books for £1:50

message 154: by Rhian (new)

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) I don't mind giving to charity but one of the books I bought was sold for the same price that was on the front of the book from the supermarket, I had chosen 4 books but put 2 back when I saw the price, when I go to the cheaper shops I buy books I possibly won't like and give them to someone else to read

Ty Patterson | 401 comments Sean, you realize this is just not sustainable. you do need to switch to ebooks!

Kristy Roland (kristyroland) | 153 comments He likes to look at them as he continues to stack them to the ceiling. I don't blame him. I collect books, too, just so they can take up space.

Ty, how many books do you have on your eReader?

message 159: by Ty (new)

Ty Patterson | 401 comments one only, the one i am currently reading

the 'read' ones i delete from my device and they go back to the cloud. if i want to re-read a book, i'll download it again.

i just hate clutter

message 160: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Roland (kristyroland) | 153 comments I do the same thing. I've only been reading ebooks for about a year. Took me a little while before I enjoyed reading on a device. Now I love it.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) I currently have 1906 books on my Kindle. When I have read them, I transfer them to my Read collection on the kindle. If/when I run out of space, I will remove them from the device. On my kindle fire, I only have one book downloaded at a time, because I rarely read on it.

Kristy Roland (kristyroland) | 153 comments That's a lot of books. I mean...Wow!

I know Ty, one day I will treat myself to a kindle !

But I have to read my 850-900 books first, which then go back to the charity shops.

It does help the charity to make some money.

I still like to have a physical book in my hand, which follows me around all day.

I do !!

Which I am sure my wife would be happy as well !!

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Kristy wrote: "That's a lot of books. I mean...Wow!"

Yes that is a lot! Free book and 1-clicking on Amazon gets me in a lot of trouble. I've gotten a lot better. When I first got my kindle I would go through the 100 top sellers-Free on amazon every day!! Now, I just go through BookBub and Pixel of Ink that recommend free and discount books to me.

Anne (Booklady) Molinarolo (wwwgoodreadscomAnneMolinarolo) | 181 comments A few days ago I pre-ordered Cop Town by Karin Slaughter and purchased The Bat by Jo Nesbø and Cockroaches (Harry Hole, #2) by Jo Nesbø . Now I have ALL of the Harry Hole books.

Karin Slaughter has replaced Michael Connelly as my favorite Mystery/Thriller Author and I'm lucky she is one of my Goodreads friends. =)

Thanks Sean for the Author recommendations. I love both Lisa Gardner and David Baldacci - really love his Camel Club novels. I haven't heard of Simon Kernick. What would you suggest to read first from him?

I'm looking for an Author to replace my favorite Thriller Author - Vince Flynn. So sad that he died so young and Mitch Rapp will never keep me company ever again. Who would you recommend?

message 172: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 146 comments I usually read on the kindle, but like Sean I am a sucker for the 50p book shelf in our charity shops. We have one shelf in the village shop which sells books to help local groups so I always look there. One shop in town though always seems to have an awesome selection of books that look as if they have only been read once, all at 50p each. I managed to pick up Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for 50p yesterday.

Anne(Booklady)

Simon Kernick

Start with The Businiess Of Dying(the first of the Dennis Milne books)

Relentless (mainly a stand alone) is brilliant

Then I loved

Payback, Seige, Staying Alive(those three in that order)

Vince Flynn, taken away so young, sadly, but I do love very fast action packed books of Chris Ryan.(Killing For the Company, The Increment and his Goerdie Sharp books)(Like Mitch Rapp)

do you listen to audio books? I stitch and listen at the same time! you could 'hook' and 'read' all at once! There must be a better verb for hooking - if not you must invent one!!

message 177: by Rhian (new)

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) picked up a few books today, karin slaughter, unseen
linwood barclay, a tap on the window
dean Koontz odd thomas
harlan coben promise me
I'm really not fancying the last 2 but for 50p each they are worth a try

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments I had to climb out of bed and go in search of a book that Tim suggested. I knew I had it "someplace". I have this little "stash" under the guestbed.....a box full of odd books, just waiting to be read. This is what I pulled out and sat on the shelf:
BIRDMAN (I knew I had it)
The White Road
Step On a Crack
The 13th Hour
In Her Defense
Judgment Day
Guilt
Lethal Legacy
Eleven Days
Extreme Justice
Yeh, pretty good reading methinks!!! Who knows why I have been saving these books in a box. Overload most likely.
Thrilled that I found BIRDMAN! That's my next read. I need to be scared out of my wits!!!!

Anne,
Great choice in books. Take a peek at Chris Mooney and Linda Castillo's books........both are so good.

message 180: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Since I found my copy of BIRDMAN in the wee hours this morning I got all excited about this author. i thought I would make a sneaky little run to my Goodwill Bookstore (for those who do not know..........we have an actual Goodwill Store that is a reclaimed bank and they converted into this gorgeous building into a discount bookstore. It's really done first class and I have a ball shopping there for $3 books) Anyhow.....with a wad of dollars in hand.......I was all giddy about going book shopping for some more MO Hayder books!!!! I hopped into my little red ragtop.......and click click click........click click click.........dang, I have a dead battery. GRRRRRR I was forced to come into the house, uncage the pups..........and clean the house for the afternoon. Such a disappointment!!!!!

I guess it is me and John Puller again tonight. I read all of 6 pages last night before falling asleep. Does David Baldacci just run hot and cold with some of his books? I'm having a hard time even believing he wrote this book. ZZZZZZZZ

message 181: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Roland (kristyroland) | 153 comments I found a Mo Hayder book at our Goodwill recently and was so excited I snatched it right up without even looking at it. The title had the word DIE in so I knew it had to be good. It was a Mo Hayder, for crying out loud. Anyway, I get home and realize that the book is in German. Die Sekte. Needless to say I don't speak German, and that's my epic fail.

So, Ter'e, that book felt like a dead battery to me. I like looking at it though. I hope you find some books when you get to go to the Goodwill.

message 182: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Oh Kristy....that is such a shame........as I am giggling like a fool. See what happens when we get too excited????? Perhaps we have someone on here, who is fluent in German, and you can give it to them.
LOL

I'd be just like you!!!! Die and Hayder.....I am good to go.

So, do you have a regular Goodwill or a Goodwill Bookstore????

message 183: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Roland (kristyroland) | 153 comments Yes, there are several in my area. Plus many used bookstores. I usually pick up books from there when I don't know the author. When I truly want to support an author I buy their books.

Where is the Goodwill bookstore? A whole store for used books only? That's awesome.

We have over fifty thriller authors in this group.

Our last vote was which 3 books we read from our own author books.

All 3 group read authors on the home page are members and doing a group Q & A on May 27th !

The Accident is her first book.

message 194: by [deleted user] (new)

Fifty. Cool. I look forward to the Q&A's. Is Karin Slaughter one of them? I thought I saw her mentioned.

message 195: by Paul (new)

Paul Have just bought these books by Johan Theorin (a Swedish author):
1. Echoes from the Dead (The Öland Quartet #1) by Johan Theorin

2. The Darkest Room (The Öland Quartet #2) by Johan Theorin

3. The Quarry (The Öland Quartet #3) by Johan Theorin

& The Asylum by Johan Theorin

The 1st three novels form 3/4 of the Oland Quartet series, whilst 'The Asylum is a stand-alone novel. Apparently this last novel is supposed to be HAIR-RAISING!! Will read 'The Asylum' first. I like to have my hair raised.

She has already done a Q&A, but is a member in this group as well. There is a thread for a Q&A for her, and she may answer it if you post a question.
