Andrew Knighton | 158 comments Interesting as much for the lectures that will be included as for the translation itself. I'm particularly curious as to whether some of his ideas about the nature of secondary created worlds extend into a poem that was part of the mythology of its people rather than knowingly presented as fiction.

Warren | 1556 comments My ignorance on the matter is apparent quite profound.
It turns out that Michael Crighton and a friend already had this discussion. To prove his point Michael wrote a book largely based on the Beowulf saga.

I saw the movie but haven’t read either the original or Michaels book.
I guess I just need to keep at it.

I'm going to reread Beowulf and the Critics, a couple of lectures by Tolkien on the topic before the new book. Very exciting news.
