Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've updated my iPads.

Can't see any benefits!

Now my keypad is weird and Mail keeps crashing.

Can't figure out how to use two apps at once!

Stupid Apple.

Anita | 3313 comments my keyboard is different but mail seems ok. I can't work out the 2 app thing but I like the notes, they are quite handy. The photos bit is different aswell but not hard to work out. My iCloud storage has been increased to 50GB from 20 free of charge although I'm not sure I really needed anymore storage in the first place.

Your complaint has been registered. An android tablet will be shipped to you soon. And as further punishment you will be deleted.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, I think the next tablet I buy will be android.

Lack of flash has always and continues to piss me off.

Apple would have provided a flash if you needed one. Questioning authority is the kind of behavior Apple has always endorsed. Questioning whether Apple's judgment about your needs is correct is, however, sign of an unstable personality.

Resistance is futile.

And it pisses us off.

Jim | 21809 comments Somehow I've managed to go through life without ever owning anything that was produced by apple. I checked with three daughters and they too have managed this.

I assume this means that we've been cast into the outer darkness

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Hmm, that's odd. My experience thus far has been that Apple products are expensive and manipulative but tend to work more smoothly than microsoft's windows or android's explosion in a sweet factory.

Without really planning it this way, we've ended up with a mongrel family of devices - Android phones, ipads and windows PCs. All have their little quirks:

Android - will be great when battery technology catches up.
Apple - works smoothly, but money-grabbing. Why glue the batteries in?
Windows - will be fantastic when it's finished. If it is ever finished.

Sir,

We are sorry that civilization has not yet reached your location on the planet. We continue to expand our dominion in hopes of eventually bringing all intelligent life within our sphere. (Those who reject the Apple way...well, we did say "intelligent life.") Hang in there.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No. You said 'intelligence life'.

No iLife for you. One year.

Anita | 3313 comments I have never had any trouble with my iPad that Apple haven't sorted out in a matter of minutes, that's only been a couple of times over the past 4 years. I like my iPad, I have always found it easy to use and the support has been great. I swapped my old iPad for a new iPad Air and the change over went very smoothly and without a hitch. The lack of the flash player is a little frustrating but I have my laptop should I need that.

Michael (michaeldiack) | 180 comments I updated my phone straight from ios7 to ios9, big mistake. It crashed on the 'slide to unlock' screen and doesn't get past it. It was a work phone but IT couldn't fix it either, so I lost all my photos. That's my own fault for not trusting the cloud backup.

They gave me a new SIM with ios9 pre-installed, but I don't like the keypad and I swear it's slower. Maybe battery life seems to be longer. I refuse to update my iPad now. I'm still an Apple fan, however, should just trust that back-up from now on.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh that sux, Michael.

Yep, always back up!

Tim | 8539 comments Even if you don't like iClod (although they never leaked my nude selfies - wonder why!!!) you can still back up to iTunes.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Did you switch your passcode off before updating? Sometimes, if you don't it can cause your phone to lock down. just thinking aloud ...

Sorry about the photo's though, that's hard. Quick tip - I back all mine up to Dropbox. Not that it helps now.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh, I've never switched my passcode off first. Never heard I should!

Thanks, Gafster!

Michael (michaeldiack) | 180 comments Hi, some good tips for the future! Thanks. The password was on.

It was a common problem after I googled it, seems if you updated straight from ios7 to ios9 it freezes your phone. so the only way to unlock it was to connect to itunes and downgrade back to ios8. Luckily i could just fob it off to IT for the fix, can't really do that with my iPad so no updating for me just yet.

I didn't know about the itunes backup either. The irony of it all is that I am a data manager for an oil and gas company...I back up and organize everyone else's data, just not my own.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ironic.
