Brittany, in regard to The Qur'an... did you read it all the way through, or skip? I checked it out and didn't have time to really apply myself, it is very heavy reading...I wanted to know if what people were saying about the Muslim teachings actually came from their equivalent of our Bible, and so constituted what they were commanded to believe...maybe someday I will get back to it, and I'm still interested in finding out about the 'real' Muslim faith and
people.

Brittany I read most all of it. It was for a class - but I plan on later going back and reading the sections we weren't assigned to read. What struck me the most is what they said about Mary - but my being Catholic might have something to do with that.

I think, just like with the Bible, most misconceptions have to do with individual interpretation. It did come across as "women are property" but so does the Bible - this is probably just because for that time period that was what everyone was taught. It also had alot about 'disbelievers" and how it is better to kill a "disbeliever" than a "believer." etc. My copy is not with me right now but this is what stuck out to me.
