Nominate a great story whose main character has more than the usual stacked against them!

Please nominate books that have a copyright of 2012 or earlier and generally available in libraries, so members won't need to buy a book to participate. Thanks!

Cheryl (cherylllr) Ideas can be gleaned from this Listopia: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/6...

I've read, and want to read, many of them, but I nominate the one I own but have not yet read:

Rules by Cynthia Lord Rules by Cynthia Lord

Thanks for posting the link to the list, Cheryl. I had read a blurb about Mockingbird but couldn't remember the title! About a girl with Aspergers.

Thank you for this! It reminded me of the two I would like to nominate:

Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper Out of My Mind and Wonder by R.J. Palacio Wonder

We can't be doing April! I haven't even made it to January!

I know . . . it snuck up on me too!

Debbie (hollyshort) The Danger Box by Blue Balliett. All of the suggestions are fabulous though. I've read or listened to all of them already. Wonder is great as an audiobook, it's recorded by a full cast.

M.G. King (mgking) | 727 comments Some good nominations here. Bumping the thread to see if anyone else wants to add a title -- I'll set up the poll tomorrow.

And remember, we leave all BOTM threads up for at least 6 months, so there's plenty of time to chime in on the discussions.

I didn't know that! Thank you. This might give me enough time to go back and read Fledgling, the first BOTM of this year.

Katy Pye (pyewriter) | 29 comments Too late to add Hurt Go Happy by Ginny Rorby? About a deaf girl who learns sign language from a rescue chimp. Wonderful story on how we connect with animals and each other.

Emma Lesko | 2 comments I didn't know that the positive images of disability list existed. It's a really good one - thanks!
