Jay Howard (jay_howard) This thread is now open for you to join GROUP 33 by adding your GR (not Amazon) book link. We have 10 places – I’ll add your name as you sign in. We’ll aim to get started in just a few weeks so once you’ve signed in watch for a message that we’re ready to start.

When you add your book link it not only indicates you want to join the group – it indicates you AGREE that you are WILLING TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.

There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference. Here you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

At last! I'm at the head of the queue!

Please note that GR does not show this as my book, even though I notified them that it is. You will just have to take my word for it!

message 3: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) I believe you, Kevin. GR is currently showing me as the author of a book about models...
Welcome to G33 :)

David DuRocher | 13 comments I just added my book, Heaven is in You Future. For some reason it is listed twice on Goodreads. Does anyone know what I should do to smash the two books together into one book? Does it matter?

message 6: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi David - #2 in the group :)
Try the FAQ section in the author help files (link from the Help at the bottom of the page. If you can't get it sorted contact the librarians for help.

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments Peter O'Donnell writing as Peter Prasad. Sonoma Knight: The Gurl-Posse Kidnap. Published this week. #2 in a crime thriller series, post-modern with a twist. Amidst horrendous storms, a drug deal unravels into murder, kidnap and redemption as PI Jake Knight helps his client see the light. Is Molly guilty? How guilty is she?

Hey Jay. Yonks ago I participated in Review Group Four. In fact, I made friends. So, I'm back. Love them long locks, Jay-bird. On'Ya. - Peter

One place left.

message 19: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Hi, I'll add The Four Kings.

The Four Kings

Ironically, Lee is the only one on the list I know, and she's already reviewed The Four Kings, but she could review another of my books she hasn't reviewed yet.

Except that, if I understand the rules correctly, you having reviewed Dragons In Pieces - one of my other books - means we can't review any each others' stuff through this. :)

message 21: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Yeah, but one of two things could be done to fix it:

1) You're listed before me, so I wouldn't be reviewing you anyway... (usually, it's four authors ahead on the list that we review)
2) The moderator can re-arrange the list so that we don't review each other at all.

message 22: by Louise (new)

Louise White | 9 comments Hi, can I join this group?

message 23: by Louise (new)

Louise White | 9 comments Sorry- forgot to add The Calling

message 24: by Peter (new)

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments I count three crime thriller writers, two sci-fi and a Christian or two. Sounds like a party. Top up my spring water and lets get to reviewing. Story, plot, character arc, dialog, setting, how it made you feel, characters you loved or hated, it's all fair game. On'Ya authors! Thank you, Mis'Jay.

message 25: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi, Scott - you make #10

Louise - sorry but you were just too late. Please watch out for G34 forming when a mod is free and sign up for that one.

It's funny how things work out - 5 of you have been in groups before but the only potential clash is between Scott and Lee, and I believe this is a first group for you, Lee? Don't worry - I'll order it to so you'll be in different 'halves' of the listing.

message 26: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Group moderator:
E. Jaye
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

START DATE: 29 March 2014

END DATE: 21 June 2014

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 21 June 2014.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

message 27: by Jay (last edited Mar 23, 2014 12:32AM) (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) You have the next week to exchange your book files. It is the responsibility of the author to get their file to their reviewers. Use PM to give email addresses (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). I'll stay with you for the next week to answer your questions then Emma (E Jaye) will take over as your group moderator. Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Lee French | 32 comments Apologies to folks, I totally read the list backwards and sent to everyone who will be reading mine, instead of the other way around. Because I'm a dork. :)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Lee wrote: "Apologies to folks, I totally read the list backwards and sent to everyone who will be reading mine, instead of the other way around. Because I'm a dork. :)"

Lee, you're supposed to contact your reviewers, so you were right the first time lol!

Just so we're clear, folks, each author PMs the 4 people who will be reviewing their book to ask 'what format?' and 'what email address?'. Unless, of course, you publish on Smashwords, in which case you only need to PM the free download code to your 4 reviewers.

message 31: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Futers (gruffling) | 33 comments I have marked each of the four titles as Want to Read to be sure that they do not fall off my radar. I think I have now sent a message to each author. (?)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Kevin wrote: "I have marked each of the four titles as Want to Read to be sure that they do not fall off my radar. I think I have now sent a message to each author. (?)"

Kevin, you need to contact each reviewer to arrange getting your book file to them.

Kevin Futers (gruffling) | 33 comments Isn't easier to do it the other way round? Ah well, here I go again!

message 34: by Lee (new)

Lee French | 32 comments Well, what's important is we all get the right books in the right hands, right? Right. :D

message 35: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) The reasoning behind authors contacting reviewers is for you all to know that the right people have the right book file for review, and so know it is all in place to get the reviews you are expecting.

Brenda Cheers (brendacheers) | 366 comments Apparently my 'send message' button has disappeared from my page . I've checked the settings and it should be there. I'm attempting to contact everybody by their pages.
David Arthur de Rocher, your PM button is missing as well, so I've become a fan - but still can't seem to contact you. Please see if you can send me a PM.
Brenda

message 37: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Quite a few recent groups have had a problem with PMing one or more members. It seems to work if you send a friend request (in which you can add a message) and then PMs work both ways.

Hi Jay. In the case of David Arthur de Rocher, he doesn't have a button to add as friend- only become a fan which doesn't allow a PM.

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments I've friended all the reviewers in this group. My emails are sailing along just fine. The true joy is we actually get to make some great new friends here. One of my beta readers and one of my proofreaders came from my last participation here. On'Ya Goodreads!

message 43: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Hi folks, I'm Emma and I'll be taking over modding duties from Jay now. I started as a group member back in December and liked the process so much I decided to be a mod to get a few more groups moving so more authors could benefit.

It'd be useful if everyone is on the same page with reference to the review process, so have look at the first posts in these threads.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

In addition it isn't appropriate to comment on a review of your work, other than to say thank you, even if your blood is boiling. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as it is polite.

One final thing is to remember we can all boost each others books on Amazon by 'liking' the reviews already on there.

PS you can 'friend' the mod too if you like, but you don't have to. I promise not to sulk too much.

David DuRocher | 13 comments I am the David DuRocher whose missing friend button has been discussed in detail here on the Group 33 message board. Herein, I present a quote from Kevin Futers.

"I noticed that your author page does not link back to you, so I suggest that you follow the link on the Topic and claim your author page. There is a link there to do so."

That seems like a good idea but the problem is I can't find the "Link in the Topic." Does anybody, including of course Kevin, have the time to tell me where the Topic Link is located. Sorry to bother everyone.

And a second comment is this, nice to learn everybody is hitting everybody else's friend button. I will do the same. See you tomorrow, your friend David
