Hello, I'm Sarah. I usually like to read a variety of fiction and nonfiction, but recently found that I really enjoy reading about history and listening to podcasts. I'm here to get some good suggestions and give back input when I find something great to read. Right now I am interested in British history.

Hello! I'm Kate and I live in Virginia. I'm originally from the Boston area and I have strong ties to New England. My particular areas of interest are history relating to the Boston area (particularly the Colonial Era and Revolutionary War), the Victorian Era, and the Plantagenets. I also enjoy books about the World Wars and historical biographies, and I have an interest in medical history.

I'm currently reading by Sarah Helm, which, so far, is the most remarkable books I've read in quite some time.

Hello everyone. I fell in love with history at grammar school thanks to some inspirational teachers and went on to do a degree in history at Westfield College, University of London 1974-77. They were the best years of my life and although I have never earned a living from history my love of the subject has remained. At university I studied mostly medieval and early modern English and European history. However I have lived in China since 2004 and my interests have widened to include Chinese and modern world history. At the same time I have embarked on researching my family history mostly in Scotland. I am becoming particularly interested in the interaction between individuals such as my ancestors and the bigger historical picture of the times in which they lived.

Historical resources in English are limited in China, as you might expect, and e books are now essential brain food, so I am delighted to be able to join a group of like minded people. For the same reason I am also actively exploring MOOCS. I have recently completed a course on Controversies around the British Empire with Futurelearn.com and next week I am going to start another course on the First World War.

Hello hello - just wanted to introduce myself. I wish I could make reading for the sole purpose of acquiring knowledge a career. Haven't had as much opportunity over the last year or two to soak up new books but did get some solid Audible time in.

Really looking for recommendations on history explored through the lens of biology, psychology, etc. Anything on pre-agrarian or indigenous peoples societal structures would be wonderful.

I speak Spanish, English, Portuguese and French AND am currently learning (with great patience) Mandarin. I mention that because for me it is a fabulous experience to read books in their original language. Well, within the topic of history, I am particularly interested in European 'Middle Ages' (formation of modern cities, languages and nations), Modern International History (18th century and forward), and most recently Chinese History. Hi guys, my name is Joanne and I'm living in Cork, Ireland. I love to read books of all genres but have to admit my interests lately have brought me more towards historical non-fiction and fiction. I have a great love of Irish and UK history, but more recently have found myself reading a lot about Japanese and Chinese history. This was brought about by my love of Haruki Murakami, Yoko Ogawa and Banana Yoshimoto's books.
Now I'd like to broaden my horizons and learn more about the Israel/ Palestine conflict and its roots, so if anyone has any recommendations on that front it would be much appreciated. Ideally I'd be looking for non-biased accounts but I do realise that's probably going to be difficult to find!

I'm currently reading Black Earth by Timothy Snyder - I recommend pretty much anything written by Snyder and the late Tony Judt.

I will admit that a fair amount of my reading is actually listening to audiobooks. With much of the history that I listen to, I subsequently get the books in order to refer back to them.
