Patricia Nedelea Hi, my name is Patricia Nedelea and I'm living in Transylvania.
I've done a PhD at History and Civilisation Department of European University Institute, Florence. My doctoral subject was on Renaissance History, more specifically on Tarot Cards as Pedagogical Art of Memory Places. My other PhD (Comparative Gender Studies, at Central European University, Budapest) was dealing with Shakespeare, Deconstruction and Queer Theory.
I am fascinated by Late Medieval and Renaissance Historical Fiction. My future plan is to read more fiction about those times.

You came to the right place. Based on your introduction, I suggest you check out these threads:

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books and authors that you mention should look:

Raven | 1 comments Good afternoon!

I'm Kelli Sutton-Bosley. I have a dual Master's of Arts in Military History and American History. I have a great interest in Early American History from pre-colonial through Reconstruction, with a focus on local history. I have a beautiful little girl too, so my reading choices vary from military history to Harry Potter. I look forward to joining in discussions in the future.

Thanks,

Which also prompted me to start reading up on nationalism which I had long wanted to but didn't. Thanks for having me here *cheers!

Grace Crandall (gracecrandall) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Grace, a recently graduated homeschooler from Wisconsin :) I'm a big fan of ancient and medieval history (King Alfred, anyone?) :D but most of the books I've read on it have been overviews of events and political structures. Honestly I'm more interested in the people--the myths, the culture, individual figures who stand out from the crowd.
Looking forward to finding more in-depth history books and discussing the coolness of it all with you epic folks!!

I joined here, hoping i'd get good recommendations from you all. To start with, can anyone suggest me a good book about South American History? Will try to as much as possible to participate in all the group's activities.

Thanks

Jason Hibbard | 1 comments Hello, my name is Jason Hibbard and have enjoyed history thanks to a magnificent history teacher in high school, Mr. Davis. He inspired me to write, think critically and knowing what happened wasnt enough. His encouragement to look at situations from all sides of history sparked my continued interest. I graduated in 2008 with a bachelors degree in history. I enjoy most areas of history but am particularly fond of early American, Western European, and other world early civilizations I.e., Mesopotamian, Chinese dynasties, etc. My other passion is working in child welfare and am interested in reading books that explore the transformation of child welfare. Thanks for the add!

Harmke Hi, I'm Harmke, from the Netherlands. I have always loved history; it makes me understand how and why things happened.

I love to read about Dutch history, European history (starting by 1500's), and American history. Biographies are a great way to learn more about a specific period in time. I have recently read a couple of books about Russian and Eastern European history and I was amazed by our own Dutch footprints in American history. I hope this group gives me inspiration from other 'history & book nerds' on what to read next.

Steve Haywood Hi, I'm Steve from the UK. I like reading mainly non-fiction books, particularly history, but also geography & travel, biography, occasional books on politics and economics. Particular historical interests include American history, 20th century British history and European history, but actually I'm really just interested in anything and everything! I occasionally read historical fiction, but usually just ones that give you a real sense or flavour of history rather than just plonking a story in a historical setting.

I am really looking forward to diving into this group, exploring all the threads and book recommendations - there looks to be such a lot going on!

Hannah Facknitz (hannahandthewolf) | 1 comments Hello! I was asked to explain my own history with, well, history. I've always had a penchant for the past and gobbled up historical fiction as a kid/young adult (I still do), and eventually this led me to pursue a career as an actual historian. (I originally wanted to be a doctor, but thankfully I came to my senses). Unfortunately, in my final semester of college, I became gravely ill and had to leave school. This was three years ago and I'm still battling my illness, but I'm hoping to return to school one day and complete my degree. In the meantime, I read as many history books (both fiction and non-fiction) as I possibly can. While in college, I primarily focused on American Indian history, mostly from Reconstruction through WWII.

I'm currently reading River of Smoke by Amitav Ghosh and Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari.
Can't wait to get to know you all!

History has always been an area of interest for me, especially American history as well as ancient Greece and the Roman empire. I have always been an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. Frank B. Hello,

I'm Frank B. from the state of New Hampshire in the USA. I'm retired from a large biotechnology company and have for my entire life enjoyed reading histories and biographies. I particularly enjoy reading about the histories of important periods or events and of countries from around the world. I joined this group with the hopes that I would be able to discover new books and topics.

A little about myself; I have an advanced degree in biology, serve as a state legislator and town selectman and am an instructor pilot in my spare time. I particularly like to read about military histories, the biographies of significant historical figures and the political development of various nations.

I am looking forward to learning more about this group and the various books out there.

It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how a book that you mention should look:

The Best and the Brightest by David Halberstam by David Halberstam David Halberstam

Brina Hello Miguel and welcome. Growing up in Chicagoland I have passed Loyola on the el many many times. Good luck with your studies. I studied Latin American studies, history, and Spanish when I was in school. Favorite authors for me are Allende, Marquez, Julia Alvarez, Pablo Neruda. For history, there is a great book out now about Simon Bolivar. I can not cite it correctly for this group from my phone but to help the author's name is Marie Arana. Hopefully a moderator can fix the citation for me. I hope you enjoy this group.
