Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) Hello and welcome Rohit Coffee and cookies would be wonderful if we could just figure out how to do it!!!! Your love of history has led you to the right place here at the HBC. Follow the link below to find your favorite topic.

You might also want to browse our home page to find areas that are of particular interest to you.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Welcome to all the new members! You might want to check out our 50 BOOKS IN 2016 section. You can see what other members have been reading and may find great suggestions there. Or you may want to participate. (You don't actually have to reach the goal of 50 books, but it's nice to have something to shoot for.)

My name is Graham Brown. I live in Sydney, Australia. I am 56 years old, single. I am now retired from working as a Lawyer in Sydney. I was also employed in politics. Way off in the distant past I served in the Royal Australian Navy.

Now that I am no longer working, I have the time to catch up on books I have wanted to read. I am getting through the list.

My approach to reading is predominately based on the subject matter as opposed to reading the published work of a author I would follow.

The subject matters to my liking include social history, political history, architectural history and ancient civilizations generally. From this to the lives and politics and law of the middle ages, through British and European history, mainly the Georgian period, WWi and WWII.

So the bulk of my reading is non-fiction, but I also like to be carried away on a political thriller or by the classic writings of Jules Verne, H G Wells and the like.

I read for pleasure these days but I want to keep abreast on changes in the Law, in particular the Australian Governments approach and the International communities approach in dealing with humanitarian issues resulting from changes in the political and social landscape in parts of the world.

Feel free to get in contact with me. Happy to chat.

Talha happy to meet you - what country are you from - USA or one of our many global countries around the globe. And I do agree that history unfortunately has a way of repeating itself - even though we should learn from history.

There is a saying that we learn from history that we do not learn from history.

Where are you lecturing in computer science? We are delighted to have you with us.
