Samanta (almacubana) Hello, Graham. Welcome to the History book club!

Based on your introduction, I suggest you check out these threads:

Roman Empire
Ancient History
Medieval History
Europe - European History
British history
The First World War
The Second World War
Art - Architecture - Culture

I suggest you also check put our homepage and see what else we have to offer. You can access the main page through this link:

HBC mainpage

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books and authors that you mention should look:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (The Tales of Dunk and Egg, #1-3) by George R.R. Martin by George R.R. Martin George R.R. Martin

Hello all, my name is Graham. I am 56 years old and I live in Sydney, Australia. I am recently single after my partner and I ended a 16 yr LTR.

I took early retirement just three months ago from my position as a Lawyer practicing in Government. Its not hard to say that I do not miss the commute to work nor the long work hours.

As a background, I have a Bachelor of Social Science with a major in Politics. I also have a Bachelor of Laws. I have a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice which is a qualification that provides the qualification to apply and seek to practice Law in the state of New South Wales. I practiced in the public sector for a number of years, for the most part in the area of Environmental Law drafting Legislation as well as providing legal advice to government.

My interests include travelling abroad, as I have a passion for UNESCO declared sites across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. I have interests in gardening, music of the Late Baroque Period and just enjoying the time I now have to pursue those things I was didn't get around to doing while working. This includes the time I now have to read for pleasure by reading the past of the people, culture and events that bring us to where we are today.

I am an a man that's easy going and open to opinions and recommendations from other members on authors or readings I have not had the chance to seek out.

Thank you for adding me to The History Book Club.

I've always loved reading and always had an interest in history - but have only recently put the two together and started reading history books! I'm interested in any well written book, although so far have mainly been reading military history (especially WW2).

Thanks, Tony

I am in my twenty-first year as a teacher, having taught language arts, reading, and social studies. I have also been a baseball and football coach during that time, and served as a school administrator. I am a voracious reader who loves history books of all sort, especially military history. World War I interests me most - the sweeping changes in the world during those four years are mind-blowing. I get picky about my fiction, but love Star Trek novels and Louis L'amour westerns. Outside of reading and teaching, I enjoy golf and woodworking. I am very excited to join this group and the discussions - thanks for having me!

Well, salutations! As you can see, my name is Emese. Other than that, I'm an aspiring linguist who plans on going to an Ivy League school. I love reading in general, yet history itself holds a special place with me. What kind of history (might you ask)? Well, while I enjoy World History and Prehistory, I've always been interested in Russian History. That doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with what political leaders have done, both past and present, but I still enjoy reading about Russia.

On another topic, I also take delight in linguistics (no wonder), language learning, philosophy, politics, and physics. I'm generally open for anything, though.

I am an working in the Telecom industry and I like to read a lot. My interests include history, well mostly modern history and history of India. The reason I love history is because I feel that we can learn a lot about how our ancestors' decisions have changed our lives in so many good and bad ways and we must learn from their mistakes and make this world a better place for our generations to come. I love to read about men and women who have brought change in the world and I aspire to follow their trail. I care about social issues such as poverty and illiteracy, especially in rural India.
Thanks for welcoming me in the group. I hope to find many like minded people here and get some book recommendations.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how a book that you mention should look:

Eric Skantze (skantze) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Eric RR Skantze from Sweden, a country very much inspired by Germany (EU) and nazis. My father fought the nazi propaganda and I follow in his footsteps. My opinion is colored by the fact that Internet is disseminating new historical facts like wildfire. I love it. My radio listening has flooded me with paradigm shifts. I'll hope there will be some more time with books but my home page takes a lot of time. I have a bad reputation for harvesting Kindle books. Remember, god history books is the best vaccination against being a sheeple.
Take care

Patrícia Colombo (paticolombo) | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Patrícia Colombo, I'm 19 years old and I'm Brazilian. I've join the group most because I haven't read much history books during my life. I'm used to science fiction, biographies, and other genres like those, but I want to expand my mind and know more about the history of our world. After all, some say that to understand the present you have to know what happened in the past. I hope that this group will be a great way of meet new books!
PS: Sorry if my english is not that good, I'm still learning. If I write anything wrong, please let me know.

Welcome Ashley, Amrit, Sara, Devin, Peabody, Kaleen, Eric and Stosch. I hope you'll find many books and discussions to interest you here.

Stephen | 1 comments Hi everyone, my name is Stephen! I'm from the Kansas City area, and have had a love for history for quite a while. I graduated from college with a history degree, and love reading books on the subject. I especially like things that discuss obscure parts of history - like wars that people overlook or topics like the Soviet Space Program that was covered up until relatively recently. Anyway, hope to have fun on here :)
