Have you read Oddkins? Do you recommend it?

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Dustin I did not read this. I'm going to now. That sounds like a keeper with illustrations. I love picture books. LOL. I do enjoy them. Pics spice up some stories.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Thanks Dustin for adding this. I just finished Oddkins and I read it on Kindle Fire and listened to the audio ... it was wonderful. First of all I was surprised that illustrations showed up in the e-book. A lot of them and very well done. If you are into audio books, the narrator did a wonderful job with this one, giving all of the toys their own voices. This is not just a children's book. Don't be put off by thinking that. As the title states it is "a fable for all ages". There is so much truth in this as Koontz once again explores his constant theme of good vs. evil. It's also a quick read. It was a little pricey to get both the e-book and the accompanying audible narration but to me, it was well worth it.

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments The description explains the illustrations. I believe this is going to be an actual physical book purchase for me.

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments After reviewing the new book prices I have changed my mind. Kindle it is. Possibly audio too.

Darlene | 11 comments I really enjoyed this book. I have had it many years and I thought it was so cool that it was illustrated.

The same illustrator worked with Dean for Santa's Twin. He and Dean must be good friends to collaborate so well :-) I actually have not yet read ODDKINS. I should. We may need to feature ODDKINS as a Group Read sometime, if at least a few of you are interested.

Santa's Twin by Dean Koontz

Thank you Karen for mentioning the audiobook. I do lots of audiobooks. I am also old school so I don't typically do ebooks and I usually do my audiobooks on CD. (somewhere I need to find a new Sony Discman because I have worn mine out by using it everyday). I didn't realize audiobook on CD was an option for this book. I can get the printed book through the library but I might buy the audio CD if I can't get that through the library.
ODDKINS on CD, currently available for $7.99 https://www.audiobookstand.com/produc...

Darlene | 11 comments Yes it does seem that is his illustrator of choice because I also have a Twilight Eyes illustrated novel that Phil Parks also did. I have Oddkins in hardback and on my kindle because I really liked it. But I have to say that actually holding the book and turning the pages is still exciting to me.

I feel the same way with this book. I was going to buy the actual book. The going price is $85 which is too pricey for me. I'll have to settle with the kindle edition.

Darlene | 11 comments If you can see if your local library has it. Even just borrowing it can be cool too!

I agree about library. I do not drive or go out much to visit the library.
