Jennifer W | 2175 comments Hi everyone. I'm looking for some recommendations for a book with romance in it, but it also must have a plot line that is not all about the relationship. Something along the lines of Memoirs of a Geisha or Graceling. I don't read a ton of romance novels, but I'm feeling mushy. It can be explicit or not. Adult or young adult. Any genre. Thanks!

Petra Have you tried the Outlander series (starting with Outlander)? It's got a lot of plot (historical fiction) and the romance/relationship between Jamie and Clare is always there.
I'm not much of a romance reader and can't think of any other books but if I do I'll add them later.

Gortrixie | 6 comments This may not be as heavy and literature oriented as you want, but my favourite for romance + plot right now is Colleen Hoover. Maybe Someday and Hopeless were two of hers I really liked. I also just read Deeper (and it's sequel Harder) by Robin York. THis book chewed me up and spit me out and had me wound up in the story in my head for a week. Characters are so fleshed out and believable; she clearly has a gift for that. Both authors also use just enough humour to make the whole story so much more real and cohesive. I also suggest Outlander, but you will be reading and reading and reading. Personally, I should have stopped after the third book; I find it gets a little wonky after that.
