If you could all check and confirm you're still in before October 1, that'd be great!

Victoria Scott | 466 comments I'm ready! :)

Ora (oeamis) Checking in

message 5: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Great! Now we can decide on a house and then get a topic. I think we should go with a house with the most topics we think we'll be able to complete but that's just me.

message 6: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I just looked at the houses again. Since there is only three of us, I hope I won't have a problem finding a book for a task.
These are the only ones I would have to hunt for:

*Murder Mystery set in a mansion/house would be a little more difficult since I really don't read murder mysteries and finding one that is a freebie or on scribd would take a bit of time.

*A book set in a circus I don't think I have ever read a book that takes place at a circus.

When we are given our tasks, how long do we have to complete them?

message 7: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments There is no set time limit to complete a task but the faster you complete them the more tasks you can complete in the month. Yeah, I don't know that I've ever heard or read any books set in a circus.

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 684 comments Mod
Water for elephants is set in a circus. Sorry for hijacking your thread:)

message 9: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments No worries and thanks so much.

message 10: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments I think I'd do best at Christmas Light or Gravediggers :)

message 11: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Okay, I'll just go with whatever we decide as I don't really have a preference. Let's see what Ora thinks though.

message 12: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Guys, what house do we want to do?

message 13: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I think Gravediggers sound better than Christmas lights right now.

message 14: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments In that case, our topic is:
*A book listed as "creepy" or "spooky" on Goodreads

I'll find some listopia lists and link them here

message 15: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Would Creepy Book Covers work?

message 17: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments Dammit, I was worried we were going to get this challenge! I'll see if I can get A Monster Calls or Miss Peregrines, they were on those lists :)

message 18: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments Yep, I can definitely get A Monster Calls :)

message 19: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments Oh, or Gone Girl! Anyone want to buddy read either of those for bonus points?

message 20: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments I can read Gone Girl.:) What genre is it? When would you like to start?

message 21: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments Thriller I think :) I have buddy reads for the 1st and the 7th in other groups, but I know we want to get lots of points, so I can maybe try the 4th? I just might read a little slowly

message 22: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Perfect.:) I'll set the thread for then and post the link here. That date works for me as I'm trying to finish some books and deal with school work.

message 23: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Here's the thread for Gone Girl: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 24: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) As of right now, I will go with Torment of Shadows (Angels & Sinners, #1) by Chelsea Luna Bellingeri .

message 25: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments Perfect, go team :)

message 26: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Yay, we're on our way to a great start!

message 27: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Just realized when I was getting to buy my book on amazon it's only 86 pages. Sucks when goodreads doesn't have page count available.
Would a book from the creepy cover list work?

message 28: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments No on the creepy cover list as I was thinking more of the storyline as the basis for the book being shelved/listed as creepy. However, if you can't find anything that works I'll accept a book from that list.

message 29: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I can find something on a creepy list that is also on scribd. I was actually a little irritated that I started Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman after we got our task since it's on a creepy list, but the 2nd in the series isn't. I will just save that one for retellings since it's the first Frankenstein retelling I have came across.

message 30: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments All right. However, i'd also accept the second in a series if the first book was on the list.:)

message 31: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I will see what I am in the mood for this weekend. The author's style of writing took me a little bit to get use to and the world he create is completely disturbing. At least I know what I'm getting into with this book.

message 32: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Bring On The Creepy #49. Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman , 2nd in series UnWholly (Unwind, #2) by Neal Shusterman

message 33: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I'm going to read my book later tonight or tomorrow. I'm not sure which book I am going to yet. I read the novella that's in between Unwind and Unwholly, and not sure if I feel like reading Unwholly yet. It's a really disturbing series. If not, I will be reading Asylum (Asylum, #1) by Madeleine Roux which is also on the Bring On The Creepy list. I guess I'll see what I feel like, right now I need to read something lighter.

message 34: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I just want to make sure I understand when we start the next book. After everyone completes their books, we then move on to the next house?

message 35: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments We can choose a house once two reviews are posted and then get a topic. I think Victoria's almost going to post.

message 36: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments I'm going to write my review tonight and then post :)

message 37: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Great Victoria.

How does Hollow House or Christmas Lights sound next for everyone? Personally I would prefer Hollow House and hope for supernatural creatures since I am going to be reading About a Vampire (Argeneau, #22) by Lynsay Sands this week.

message 38: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments I honestly prefer lighthouse. But, you can count all books you read in October at the end of the month regardless.:)However, I'm flexible so can also do hollow.

message 39: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I didn't see lighthouse. Where is it located?

message 40: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Never mind I see you mean Christmas Light house. I really don't mind. It will probably be the weekend before I read a book for that house with other books I have committed to this week.

message 41: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Ok, let's see what Victoria wants.

message 42: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments I'm good with Hollow House, because I'm reading Harry Potter so that counts for two categories :)

message 43: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Hollow house it'll be.:)

message 44: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) When will we find out our task?

message 45: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Sorry, I have to finish writing a paper so maybe around five Eastern.

message 46: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Thanks Jackie!

message 47: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Our next topic is: *A book with the words "night" "hexed" or "magic" in the title

message 48: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 466 comments I can read A Magic Dark And Bright for this one :) Hopefully I can start it today!

message 49: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Yay, I'm starting Gone Girl now.:) I'll take a look at my shelves in a bit to see what I can read for this one.

message 50: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) So would Crown of Midnight work
