Got The Girl and the Bomb, ordered it yesterday and got it today. Wish all my books came that way.

Helen | 140 comments Can hardly wait for the Undesired. Yrsa gets better with each book. Loved The Silence of the Sea: A Thriller

Looks like this one is a 'stand alone' horror story so I wont have to read L R eithrr!

Am now 1/2 way thru Last Rituals....and enjoying it much better than the first try.
Sue....this is not a stand alone...Last Rituals is the debut of Yrsa's character Thora Gudmundsdottir. Followed by My Soul to Take. Ashes to Dust. The Day is Dark. Someone to Watch Over Me. And the Silence of the Sea. I hear that her books are better each time.
Her stand alone novel is I Remember You: A Ghost Story.

RIP Henning Mankell. I read them all for decades and watched the truly excellent tv series, all versions and all the films with true enjoyment. Thank you for hours of pure reading and watching pleasure and a world view without excuses. RIP

Stephanie (tomegnome) | 32 comments I just heard about Henning Mankell's passing on the BBC news. Reading his books is what brought me to love mysteries and crime fiction. Such sad news to get at the beginning of the week. I will continue to be a dedicated fan of his.

Maggie | 100 comments Sad news about Henning Mankell - I haven't read any of the Wallander books yet (I know - bad! - but intend to rectify asap) but love the Wallander series on TV. RIP.

I have read all of Yrsa's books. "I remember You" is the only stand-alone book. And the scariest. My sister loved "Silence of the Sea" She has another one out in late October The Undesired.

Bobbi D | 121 comments I too mourn the loss of Henning Mankell. It was thanks to this great author that I began reading Nordic Noir. Read all his books. Rip Mr Mankell.

I added A.C. Efverman to Octobers read-along as an incentive to read Game because I liked the book and she would like feedback on it. Jo Nesbo started out in Australia maybe.......

Love her anecdotes about Icelandic criminals, hilarious.

message 19: by Helen (new)

Helen | 140 comments Well just downloaded Yrsa's The Undesired. But before I have to finish The Calalyst Killings. It is written by Hans Olav Luhlum. He is great. He wrote The Human Flies, The Satellite People and now The Calayst Killings. His work is set in Norway. Human Flies was nominated for many awards last year but I like this better. He writes like Agatha Christie. Like a closed room type of investigation. Highly recommended.

Bobbi D | 121 comments I was fortunate enough to visit Gimli two summers ago and visit the museum. Love the whole area! Originally from Winnipeg and had not been to Gimli in years!

It's the final week for the best read Henning Mankell book. Look at the bottom of the main page for your choice. It will be in the November read-along.
