I've grown up just outside of San Francisco, so the SF Giants baseball, SF Forty Niners Football, San Jose Sharks Hockey and the Golden State Warriors for Basketball! Super sad my Giants are making the playoffs this year. Too many injuries and my 49 Niners look horrible! :( But Hockey is just getting started with pre-season!

message 12: by Erika (new)

Erika | 9482 comments Okay, first Chris, let's open a bottle over while reading After You (Me Before You, #2) by Jojo Moyes and we can say we had drinks together.

Susan, I would of loved to walk into your club, I bet I would of danced my a$# off!!!

Kris, what's your favorite coffee? Me, I'm a Starbucks girl and if I don't have coffee...beware who ever catches me like that lol

Deanna, I love your story about your husband, just think, sometimes we save the best for last.

Barb, so much to say... first I am left handed so, YAY!!! and I'm with Susan, when did you tell everyone???

message 13: by Susan (new)

Susan Wow all three of us are left handed??? No wonder why we mesh so well! Lol

message 14: by Vega_girl (new)

Vega_girl | 6624 comments Haha!! We told my family after I graduated in May!!! He was a year ahead of me. We were young and dumb and thought for sure our parents wouldn't agree(which they did not). So we said screw it ....and now 15 years later we are making them eat their words!! Lol it only took us about 8 months to all love each other again. I would kill my daughter if she ever did it though!!

Wow! Loving this! And OMG Barb @ your #1. Susan - I love that you were a DJ during the 80's...I can picture it! Sal - you are a genius! That is so cool!

My 5 truths:

1. I teach reading intervention and love to get my struggling readers to be able to read. It's what I love most about my job.

2. I love the snow and snow days more than most school-age kids do! I get to have an unexpected day off, stay home with my kids, and curl up and read on the couch under a snuggly warm blanket! Plus the snow is so pretty. If snow is in the forecast I check constantly for updates on school closings and wait for my "school is closed" call.

3. Sometimes during the summer and on the above mentioned snow days, I get tired of feeding my kids 3 meals a day. That's horrible I know, but sometimes I just want to say, "Let's skip lunch today, we don't need it!"

4. I love a cup of hot green tea with a shot of honey...it's my go to comfort beverage

5. I love football and baseball, but I am an Ohio girl through and through, so Go Reds, Bengals, and Buckeyes!

OMG this is really fun!! I'm loving reading everyone's truths and I completely agree with Erika we can keep adding other truths!

@Kris 14 pairs of different Birkenstocks is wild!! I'm all about the comfort of my Crocs and have several different pairs.

@Deanna I'm a total soccer mom too. LOL And my youngest is a Junior in high school so I don't have much longer for him to play and I'm going to miss it!

@Barb your #1 is really something! I love how both you and Erika were both married young and still happily together!

@Erika, I'm totally going to open a bottle of wine and toast to you tomorrow night while reading After You (Me Before You, #2) by Jojo Moyes . Next best thing to drinking together.

@Sal your a genius that is amazing and thanks for the German swear word! ;)

@Karen I love that you teach reading intervention. My son struggles terribly with reading. He's always been in tutoring and special reading help, but he still hates it. :( It makes me sad that I love to read so much and it's not easy for him.

1. I'm a stay-at-home mom but my daughter's in 2nd grade now, so I don't actually have any kids at home during the day.
2. I hate the days my husband works from home. I feel like I have to be productive 100% of the time since he's there.

I'm envious of your free time when your daughter is in school you can read!! I'm laughing at the comment about your husband!! Here is my husband truth...

1. On Saturday's if my husband isn't home I will sit and read, but I use the Find my iPhone app it's a GPS and I use it to watch my son when he is out and about, but I will also check how much longer before my husband gets home, so when he walks in the door I'm up and cleaning the house instead of still reading!!

2. Thankfully my job is flexible and so is my start time, because sometimes I can't put my book down in the morning, so I just go in a little later!!

3. I'm really envious of my sister who travels the world.

4. I have two amazing step daughters who I love like my own and rarely refer to them as step and one son of my own.

5. I hate coffee and drink tea all the time black and green!

Karen (readingaway84) | 2519 comments Mod
Chris: I am with you on the tea. I love green tea and hate coffee! And I too am jealous of your sister!

Erika: Your son getting married is bittersweet! Sending good thoughts your way!

More truths:

1. When I first met my husband, I had a boyfriend and he (my future husband) used to come visit me at the ice cream parlor where I worked and order milkshakes and tip me large tips. It made my boyfriend at the time angry and at the time I didn't think anything about it.

2. I have only been outside of the U.S. once and that was to Canada and pre-passport requirement days, so I don't have a passport :(

3. Women who have been through divorce and/or are single parents are the strongest people I know. I couldn't be the woman I am or the mother I am without the constant help of my husband. I watch my sister do this by herself every day and couldn't fathom it. Kudos to all of the divorcee's and/or single parents. You are very strong!

4. I could eat pizza every day and not get tired of it. Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Little Ceasars, frozen pizza, school pizza, Local Pizza; it all tastes different to me! They each have a unique flavor!

5. I refer to my students at school as "my kids" because they are "my kids"! We spend so much time together we are like family! So I only have two kids that live with me. But after 10 years of teaching, I have around 300 kids that I claim as "mine".

More truths:

1. Making small talk makes me feel awkward. I swear I say the weirdest things some times.
2. I've turned into a huge procrastinator in my 30's.
3. I, too, start cleaning up and looking busy when I know my husband's coming home. It's usually after I pick up my daughter at school.
4. I secretly wish one of my daughter's teammates would quit soccer so I didn't get stuck talking to her mom. And I feel even worse because I'm not the only team mom that wishes that. I'm nice to her, but yikes!(I swear I'm not mean!)
5. It's weird being a stay-at-home mom without kids at home when all of your friends are going back to work. It makes me feel guilty. But it works best for our family right now. Plus, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up anymore!

message 46: by Vega_girl (last edited Oct 06, 2015 02:52PM) (new)

Vega_girl | 6624 comments Omgosh!!! Great truths all . Deanna my youngest is in first grade so last year I started substitute teaching...I love it I work when I feel like and I get to read during lunch and planning period. I also get to go in and come out the same time as my children so no after school care!! I also say Tue weirdest things most people think I am a snob because I don't typify make small talk...if you don't know me...you have to make the first move to get to know me...I know how weird I am and would never force it on someone. Lol!!

message 47: by Vega_girl (new)

Karen, your story of your husband the big tipper is so awesome! I love it!! And your 300 kids so warms my heart. You must be an amazing teacher!

Deanna, take advantage of being a stay at home mom. Just because you daughter is in school, you still get to volunteer to help with school stuff and go on all the field trips and take your daughter to school and pick her up. There is nothing better to me! When I had my son I quit my job and I was a workaholic working up to 60 hours a week. It was the BEST thing I even did. I eventually went back to work 2 days a week for 5 hours a day, then 3 days and now he is a junior and I work 5 days, but only 5-6 hours a day. I never missed anything in his life. If you can afford it stay home and enjoy it!

Barb, you are so funny!! I can't believe you don't make small talk. I would think you would be so outgoing all the time, with everyone like you are here!

Erika, that is awesome that you are going to school now and figuring out what you want to do.
