The nominations thread for the November Non Fiction Read is now open, please suggest your book choices below.

To get a better variety of non fiction books we are suggesting themes for each month, so the Theme for October is Biography.

This thread will remain open until 5th October and then will be closed for voting.

Please remember that the books need to be readily available in as many formats as possible at a reasonable price.

Nominated:
Eleanor Marx: A Life
Churchill: A Life

Nominated and Seconded:
The Autobiography of Malcolm X
Margrave Of The Marshes
Reading Lolita in Tehran
Out of Africa
The Story of My Life

Pink Okay, I'm going to nominate The Autobiography of Malcolm X which I'm currently reading. It's been on my tbr shelf for years but I'd put it off for so long and I don't know why. Now I've finally picked it up I'm absolutely loving it and would like to discuss with others. Fascinating stuff so far and he's still only in his teenage years! Have I convinced anyone yet?!

I second this. I've also just picked this off the shelf and dusted it off.

There is one Rachel Holmes who wrote Eleanor Marx: A Life, I assume you mean this book?

message 6: by Mike (new)

Mike Sheridan I have always wanted to read more on Churchill and this book seems like the best of the bunch:

Churchill: A Life

I've already seconded something, but Fort of Nine Towers was wonderful. One of the best and most powerful memoirs I've read recently.

message 14: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments I'm not big on biography but I nominate Reading Lolita in Tehran if it counts. Memoir is the same as biography pretty much isn't it?

Sounds good. In the meanwhile I started reading A Fort of Nine Towers.

message 17: by Pink (new)

Pink I would, as there's a couple of other books I'd be happy to read, but I've already nominated.
