Vicki Cline I recently decided to read (or re-read) all the Poirot novels in order and am currently on Cards on the Table. I'm glad to have found this group and look forward to perusing the Poirot threads. I also love Rex Stout, Steven Saylor and Ellis Peters, among others.

Welcome Vicki, glad you found us! We have many fans of Christie, Stout and Peters here, so you are in good company. I haven't tried Steven Saylor as yet but the Roman setting sounds intriguing.

Sue, I do not know that many authors, as before I just read young adult novels (fantasy, sci-fi, etc) and theatre-plays.

At home, no-one likes the same books as me (they read more romantic or young adult novels), so I'm kind of "blind" trying to figurate out what to read next (now with Agatha Christie I have enough books for a while hahaha).

So the authors that I read are known, like Mary Higgins Clark, Stephen King (even they are more thriller - fiction), and Jonh Verdon.

Michaela | 542 comments Welcome Lizzie! Reading the Cadfael series too.

Ivy Hello,
my name is Kay and I haven't read many mystery books but for a few. The author I've enjoyed most so far is Kerry Greenwood. She is from Australia and writes historical detective novels.
I don't know what else to say, I haven't commented much on Goodreads. I'm trying to get myself to read more as I have not for a long time.
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Kay, glad to meet you.

We have quite a few fans of Kerry Greenwood and her Phryne Fisher novels here - I also love the TV series, though I found the recent feature-length sequel a bit of a disappointment!

message 1185: by Angie (new)

Angie | 11 comments Hello all,
I saw that you will be reading some more Agatha Christie mysteries for the 2021 group challenge, so I decided to join the group. I've only read a few of her Miss Marple and Poirot books and loved them, so I thought that reading one Christie each month would be a lovely project for the new year.

I'm a relatively new convert to the crime and mystery genre, therefore I find it hard to name favourite authors... I enjoyed books by Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, Robert Galbraith and Martha Grimes in the past, but hardly read anything by Golden Age writers - something I'd really like to change! ;-)
I'm looking forward to reading some good detective stories with you all!

ChrisGA | 195 comments Hello everyone. Mysteries have always been my favorite reading choice. I started with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys and moved on to Agatha Christie as a teen and P.D. James and Ngaio Marsh as an adult. I am retired and with my "free time" look forward to rereading old favorites and discovering new ones.

message 1193: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (missjenniferlowe) Greetings and salutations! I live in the Chicago area, in the United States. I am a life-long mystery reader, a habit acquired from my mother. I, like many others here, am a fan of Christie, Sayers, and Marsh, as well as Stout, Heyer, Haddam, and Grimes, among many others. I am looking forward to revisiting some Christies in the new year and to having some fellow lovers of the golden age to talk with.

Jan C (woeisme) | 1820 comments Welcome Jennifer. I moved from the area 5 years ago to western North Carolina when we had to put my mother in assisted living and one of us had to move here. I was the chosen one since I didn't already own two houses, let alone one. Happy in my condo by the creek now.

message 1197: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (missjenniferlowe) Jan, you probably don’t miss the Chicago winters! I am originally from California and still not quite used to them.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome! :)

message 1198: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 1820 comments No, I don't miss the 6 month long winters. Or the gray snow that stays forever!

Here the snow is gone in 2 days, if not sooner. I was in SoCal for a while - I couldn't stand that there weren't seasons like we saw in Chicago. Especially Autumn.

I've lived in New York my entire life, and I don't think I could ever adjust to a place that doesn't have a true fall and winter. Fall is my absolute favorite.

message 1200: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 1820 comments I think it is only Florida and California don't have changes. Natives may know the changes but they completely passed me by. Chicago jokes that it has 2 seasons - winter and construction season.

Fall is beautiful in NC. It is also tourist season.
