Hi Tom"
I'm not so sure it's the right book, so don't go congratulating me just yet. :)

You're welcome. I remember my husband telling me about a book that sounded like yours so I took a chance. Yay!

I used to date a painter from Kentucky!
Yep. She specialized in 'still life'...
I have a question I hope the group can help with. I used to read a book series and I've forgotten the author and even the names of the books. It was about a guy who lived in an apartment whose neighbor was arrested one day and as he was being led away, the neighbor handed him his cat in his carrier to take care of. Next thing he knew, someone was breaking into his neighbor's apartment and ransacking it, obviously looking for something. He could tell they weren't finding whatever it was and realizing that he had the only thing that had been removed from the place--the cat and it's carrier, he checked the carrier and found a false bottom full of money or drugs or something. He grabbed the cat and the carrier and ducked out the fire escape just as the bad guys were starting to break into his place. In order to stay ahead of them, this formerly good guy had to turn to a life of crime. It lead to his parents' house being destroyed. The people who were after him were relentless.
Any ideas about who the author is and the names of any of the books? I'd like to read some others, assuming more were written. Thanks.
