There are a lot of these, but often I find them first here at GR. Thanks, John.

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments To get the ball rolling, Amazon have a new batch of $3.99 or less Monthly Kindle deals, many of which are WS. Rather than list them all here, here's a link:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=lp_344188...

Some notables include NOS4A2 by Joe Hill, Tje Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, and Anathem by Neal Stephenson. Lots more.

CatBookMom | 1082 comments The Lonely Silver Rain, the last of the Travis McGee mysteries from John D MacDonald, is $1.99 today, and the Audible book is $3.49.

I was a huge fan back a couple of decades ago. I have only listened to a couple of the books in audio format, but they were pretty good. I think I prefer these in print, though. YMMV

message 16: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 543 comments Yup you can do it on your kindle or on the website. Just don't ask me for directions. My kindle used to ask me periodically if I wanted to check.

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I use the Kindle app on my android. Under the menu on the upper left hand side of the home page is a category called Discover. Under that is the option Audio Upgrades. Just tap that and it will show all of the books in your library that have whispersync audio book upgrades.

message 20: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments The iOS Kindle app has the same feature (called "Audio Companions" in the menu on the left), but it doesn't display prices. So that's why I use the Amazon link.

Bill (Just a) | 911 comments Elmer Gantry Elmer Gantry by Sinclair Lewis Sinclair Lewis

Not all good books were written yesterday. The thing about Whispersync deals is they often let you listen to classics at a reduced price. "Elmer Gantry" is an example. It's $3 for the Kindle and $3 for the audible = $6.

This is one of may favorite movies of all time but I have never read the book. I still remember being a youngster in the Baptist Church as my preacher lamented about the movie and told the congregation not to go.

message 29: by Kristie (new)

Might be good for fans of the Magic 2.0 series (like myself)

Kathy Golden | 320 comments Thanks, John, for this section.

Preternatural Affairs, Books 1-3: Witch Hunt, Silver Bullet, and Hotter Than Helltown is free, and the a/b is $1.99. It's interesting that each single book is free with a $1.99 a/b, but you can get all three books for free right now and get the complete 15 hours or so of audio for $1.99. Jeff Kafer is narrated these.

Bill (Just a) | 911 comments Anyone read Preternatural? It is urban fantasy and I wonder how it compares to say Dresden or Alex Veras?

message 36: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I got the books on the 25th of this month but just added the w/s audiobook to my collection. Hopefully I can get to it soon. I love supernatural suspense books, though not a huge fan of Paranormal Romance.

I really enjoyed them. I found them better than the Dresden ones personally. I really only stuck with the Dresden ones for the narration, but did quit after the first 4. They are much shorter than the Dresden novels, but they are a good quick listen.

Kathy Golden | 320 comments The Enigma Strain (Techno Thriller Science Fiction Best Sellers): Military Science Fiction Technothriller (Harvey Bennett Thrillers Book 1) is free today and the audio is $1.99.

Infinite Sacrifice (Infinite Series Book 1) is also free and the audio is $1.99. There's a note by the author that this book is not a standalone. The other two aren't on sale.

John | 3919 comments Popping in to mention that the monthly Prime book is NOT whispersync-price qualifying for an audiobook discount! The system knows that there was never any sort of underlying "purchase" involved (as opposed to library books).

message 41: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Golden | 320 comments So when we download our free book, even if the audio becomes whispersynced, our free download won't qualify?

message 42: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3919 comments Not for the monthly Prime book in my experience! My recollection is that from reports Kindle Unlimited books will work, but wouldn't swear to that.

message 43: by skinmaan (new)

skinmaan | 17 comments Do you mean your monthly Prime Lending Library book, or your Kindle First title? Lending Library titles no longer qualify for Whispersync (they stopped it about 2 years ago), but Kindle First titles should still qualify. I went and checked one of mine and it is still showing a discount.

That is not true. I frequently borrow ebooks from my library, download them to my kindle then buy the W/S audiobook. I have only been listening to audiobooks since last March and have bought 4 W/S books that way since then.

He's talking about the Prime Lending Library from which Amazon prime members can borrow a book.
