Team 2 ~ READy 2 Win

Lynn asks:
- Once you've completed a book please report in the reporting thread. Ideally including the link to the book, but if that's not possible please include the author alongside the title.
- Please use a separate post for each book read.
- Please keep chat on this thread to a minimum (helps me keep track of the books and points more easily).

I can help out in any way, Lanelle. Able to read 5-7 books Have books with Q, X and Z in them.
Nice to meet you gals

Welcome to the team, Anne. Is there something that you'd like to do? The captain spot is open :)
I have some Z and Q books, too. Just one X book though.

Reporting in.
I will commit to 2 books, one paper and one audio. I will gopher this week."
Yay, Esther. Any thoughts as to a team name?

Cheerleaders are more important than most people realize. My first two team topplers had dedicated cheerleaders and my third team toppler did not. The difference was amazing!
Thanks, Sam. I'll put you down as a cheerleader. Unless you want to be captain. The slot is still open :)

I kind of like the idea of doing the final Scrabble board, but I'm worried that my lack of computer skills might hamper me. But my kids could help me with it, I suppose. Maybe someone who is more confident will volunteer.
Since I was the one that posted the first 4 messages, let me know if there's anything you'd like me to put there.

Scrabble is one of my favorite games, too. Working together sounds great!

I kind of like the idea of doing the final Scrabble board,..."
Will do, Lanelle. I'll message you. The grid would be helpful.

I'll put you down as a cheerleader. I'm sure you'll think of ways to keep a sense of fun and excitement for our team. Feel free to see what other team's cheerleaders are doing.

Hey, Teanka. Welcome to Team 2. We're still looking for team name suggestions.
I was wondering how difficult part II of this challenge would be if everyone read Q and Z books. It might be a bit easier to put the titles on a Scrabble board if a few people read some 3-4 point books. I don't know.

We're happy to have you on our team, Jayme. The more cheerleaders, the better. Keeping up team enthusiasm for a whole week can be hard. Are you any good with those cute little emoticons?

Agreed and after seeing quite a few of you had the Z and Q books covered have made the decision to just read normal letter books :)
You'll get about 7 to 10 books from me.

Hope that makes sense.

You're right. Just me worrying. But I think I'll avoid 4 letter titles and read 3 letters titles (like Zoe and Xoe: or Vampires, and Werewolves, and Demons, Oh My!) that will fit anywhere easily or longer letter titles that will be easier to work with.
I plan on reading 8 - 10 books. My short list:
Zombie Princess Apocalypse - 19 points
Zoe - 12 points
Zora and Me - 13 points (a quick read, save for last))
Zero to Hero - 13 points (a quick read, save for last)
Zoned for Murder - 15 points
Xoe: or Vampires, and Werewolves, and Demons, Oh My! - 10 points
The Quiet Professor - 14 points
Queen Lucia - 14 points
Quotable - 17 points
Kismet - 12 points
Keeping Secrets - 14 points
The Jewelled Snuff Box - 20 points

I remember you asking about the French books on another thread. Of course its no problem.

Of course, for part one, Z, Q, X, J and K are the highest scoring letters for titles.
For part two, I'm not sure as to the strategy. I'm going to focus on longer words. But I might be wrong. Hopefully other team members will share what they plan on doing.

There will be 2 of us. I will probably look at titles at my local library that is 99% French.

I will be reading :
Queen of Someday
and Kick Push
I'm not going to worry about a strategy for Part 2. I think we will be able to fit a lot of words in. However, I see we already have several super readers who are reading a lot of books. If as a team we end up reading a TON of books, we may not be able to fit all the words in (since it's only 15 by 15 grid), but at that point we would just use the highest scoring words that would fit.

I know people who are and they can show me the ropes before the 17th

By the way, welcome to the team !

I understood it to be the opposite and to not count, we don't usually count them. I could be wrong though...

Read anything you want. Using the first letter of the first word of the title (excluding The, A, and An) will determine how many points your book is worth.
