In spite of my success in giving the book away, the sales figures on the first day on the paid list were underwhelming. Apparently, Amazon has made changes and they don't internally promote successful free promotions in the paid list like they did previously . I have some paid promotions scheduled. We'll see if they help.

I advertised my free promotion on several websites, but since Amazon doesn't share the information about where the traffic comes from. It is hard to say which ones were effective and which ones weren't.

In the case of the first two sites, they are genre-specific which translates into targeted marketing. Your book doesn't have to be free but a 99 cents special might do well. Also, I think the advertising fees are reasonable and allow you to renew the time frame easily, thus allowing your book a chance to be seen over and over by a Christian audience. Crossreads also allows authors to donate copies of their books in exchange for honest reviews. You can be assured of a review because that is the condition upon which the book is donated.
When running a free Kindle Promotion, the more sites you can make aware of it, the better. Here is a link to sites you'll want to cull through and select from:

Also, if you do pick up a copy, I would appreciate it if you leave an honest review on Amazon and Goodreads. Your review helps to ensure that more people will take note of the book and benefit from it's message.
