Funny how the premise, of having no money and no job prospects, kind of rings true today.

I'm 2 chapters in. I love the idea of having to catalogue and work with a giant gothic library in the English countryside!

Ok now I realize we are not in England. For some reason I just assumed, been reading a lot of Valancourt horror novels set in England, even one about a man hired to organize a library (I Am Jonathan Scrivener).

The estate has a British feel.

I"m about 60% in, and I keep thinking Selden's making mistakes, trusting people he shouldn't, putting himself way out there for people he shouldn't.

Probably - it is a horror story.

I had loved the girl too recently to be yet wholly healed of the hurt her madness had given.

Chapter 9

Wow, Muriel must be, or at least Seaverns thinks she is, a horrible awful person!

I'm around 50% this book isn't as good as I'd hoped. at least not to me. I'm trying to get it read as fast as possible. sorry gals.

I finished yesterday! I have to agree with Latasha, not exactly a great read. as for the plot... 100% (view spoiler)[ I kind of figured that Barbara was the murderer but I think the whole 'dead baby' reveal scene was less than thrilling. I got lost in a lot of weird detail that made the story not so scary or intriguing. (hide spoiler)] What did you think Katy?

I thought the beginning was great, but it didn't live up to that promise.

I have put this book down and picked up the library at mount char for the November group read. I may come back to this one, I'm not sure yet. however, in light of my recent picks, I've decided to start a new rule. If a book has not caught my interest by 100 pages I'm moving on!
