Hello Everyone!

I'm looking forward to this challenge and being a captain for the first time. Hopefully my co-captains can keep me straight, or at least from knocking myself out with that sweet hammer!

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments Hi team. Oh I am on the perfect team especially with my love of Thor otherwise known as Chris Hemsworth.

message 14: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments Hi Judith, Shy and the rest of the team. Also looking forward to the challenge. I'm on of the co-captains and this isn't my first challenge. I have been a captain in previous challenges (wheel a thon and battleship), so I will be there for you Judith if you need the help. This is my third Tower Team challenge and I like these best.
This is for you Shy

As your mentor, I'm here to help out if needed (if I'm not too busy making mischief with rest of Loki :P)

Hope you'll have fun and read some great books ☺

I'm excited to have you guys checking in already, I was wondering about time zones for people.

I'm in the US (east coast).

I've done challenges before with an international teams and a mix of time zones. It worked out well but I was curious about what our situation was.

US and Europe, I think. Or at least that was the plan.

Okay, that sounds good to me! Thanks

message 20: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Hello everyone, some of you might know me from other team challenges or book discussions. :)

I decided to try and be co-captain this time. It's my first time, but I hope I will be able to help Judith at least a little.

I'm from Serbia in Europe (GMT+2).

message 24: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments Enjoy the opera! I'm off to bed, I've got toooooo much to do this week and I've just pulled a 15 hour work day. Hopefully it should settle down by the time the challenge starts.

I hope you enjoy the opera, I saw that one once and thought it was a great show

Boo to the 15 hour work day, don't your employers know you have important reading to do?

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments Thanks Imke for the Thor picture.

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments Goodmorning everyone just to Let you know I have signed myself up to write discussion questions for the Books of the month in November for bonus points. Not sure yet if I get to write them yet. Have a good day.

Thanks for being on the ball and volunteering. As much as I'm looking forward to this challenge, I'm in denial that November starts a week from Sunday.

We'll try and rotate the BOM efforts so it isn't the same team member each time.

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
Imke, which book did you sign up for? I just re-read the rules and we can have one team member per book so I was going to sign up to do one of the other books.

message 35: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Great Imke. :)
November BOMs do not interest me (much), but maybe December will have a book I would like to read so I can jump in then.

message 36: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments I signed up for all three books. Only two count for the team challenge, because the first one starts November 2nd.

message 37: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments You can sign up though, it might improve our chances to get a set. I usually sign up to write discussion questions anyway, it's one of the things I really like to do.

message 38: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) | 1644 comments One of the BOM'S was my nomination so I really want to do that one (Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter). I will participate in that discussion anyway.

message 39: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I don't think I've done DQs since the last tower teams. Shameful! I found some good books last time though so I'm looking forward to taking part in some discussions again.

I can recommend it. You find books that you would never have read on your own and find new genres to try. My best find this year was The Martian The Martian by Andy Weir , I thought I wouldn't like the book and was more for men. Boy was I wrong I just loved it and I'm telling everyone I know to read it, or at least to go see the movie, which I still have to do. (mmm..maybe this weekend)

message 41: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) If it makes you feel better, I don't think I did DQs since last tower team too Zee. ;)

The Martian was one of my favorites this year too Imke. It was such an inspiring and fun story. I still have to see the movie too.

message 42: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I made my boyfriend take me to see the film a couple of weeks ago - I'd read the book, he hadn't. We both loved it! Really faithful to the book and retaining a lot of the humour.

I'm glad to hear that. I'll have to do the same thing to my husband. :)

message 44: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments So, this one is a freebie today:

Elsker (The Elsker Saga, #1) by S.T. Bende

No idea if is good or not, but since is Norse mythology, I thought I'd share

:D

message 45: by Dragana (last edited Oct 23, 2015 08:48AM) (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Norse mythology is not something to find often. I think I only read a couple of books featuring it: Age of X series by Richelle Mead, American Gods, Mist, ...

message 46: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments Anyone got any books they're particularly looking forward to reading during tower teams?

message 47: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
I'm planning to read Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I almost started it but since it's a longer book I wanted to wait.

Right now I'm just trying to finish up anything I've started or only read shorter books. I haven't thought ahead further than that.

message 48: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I'm a mood reader so I don't have an idea what I will read for the challenge.

Name of the Wind is pretty nice fantasy novels. I thought it was ok but most of my friends really liked it.

message 49: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I really loved The Name of the Wind! One of the best books I read this year. I was gutted when I realised the third book won't be out for a few years.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments Yep Zee I have yet to get around to the Throne of Glass series but I have decided I will read them all for Tower Teams since some are really big books and my hubby has stated I need to start reading some of the books I buy.
