Allison Ann | 1408 comments Sounds good.

message 452: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Today I will have less reading - more shoveling. Winter is definitely here! :D

message 453: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 23, 2015 06:42AM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Found a book with women on the main page.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book with a pumpkin on the cover.

Anyone have a Hallowe'en book?

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I've nothing with a pumpkin.

Yes, winter is beginning. It's been much colder the last few days.

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Do you get much snow where you live Danielle?

If I ever get the book I am reading finished, I have one. Halloween is for Lovers by Nate Gubin

message 458: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Some books seem endless don't they. :)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Allison Ann wrote: "Some books seem endless don't they. :)"

Yes, this one especially. It seems to drag on in some places and it is over 1200 pages so it is taking a while.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Allison Ann wrote: "Do you get much snow where you live Danielle?"

Luckily enough we don't get snow much.

message 461: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments What book are you reading Donna that's dragging?

message 462: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments ✼Danielle✼ wrote: "What book are you reading Donna that's dragging?"

The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice

message 463: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments That's a big book. I'm forcing my way through Wolf Hall (Thomas Cromwell, #1) by Hilary Mantel right now and while it is interesting, it is hard to read. And every other person is named Thomas. :)

I usually read about 100 pages an hour, but I'm averaging about half that for this one.

Snow is the best part of winter. I love snow!

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Covered the "horror" goal.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2010 - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable.
Used The Titan's Curse

NEW GOAL -- Read a book with the name of the tarot card "The Hanged Man" in the text or title.

I have a book that will work for this goal, but I have to read 4 books in sequence before it. So maybe someone will find it earlier.

message 466: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 24, 2015 09:42AM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments PRESENT GOALS

LALINE -- Read a book with a ship on the cover

ALLISON -- Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2001 - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable

DANIELLE -- Read a book with a picture frame on the cover.

DONNA -- Read a book with a pumpkin on the cover.

ARIANE -- Read a book with the name of the tarot card "The Hanged Man" in the text or title.

message 467: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments Finished another book tonight. I'm not the fastest reader, but I'm definitely coming out of my slump :)

I can't believe that December is almost here ... it doesn't seem possible! It's supposed to turn pretty nasty here this coming weekend. I'm not really ready for that. We don't get a lot of bad weather here in southern Illinois, but we do get a few snowstorms throughout the winter.

Well, hope everyone is doing well. I know I saw someone mentioned a surgery and a couple of us are battling illnesses. Hopefully everyone is feeling well/better. Happy reading!!

message 468: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Yay Tara! Let's hope your slump is gone. And the text of your book starts with "the" in case we get that goal again. How far south are you in Illinois? Most of my relatives live up near Rockford but we have some guests from further south.

message 469: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments Very south :) About 6 hours from Chicago.

message 470: by Ariane (new)

Ariane For the last goal, could this be ok? The Hanged Man's Ghost

message 471: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Absolutely Ariane. :)

message 472: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (last edited Nov 24, 2015 06:06AM) (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Good afternoon all

@Tara - I'm glad you are getting over your reading slump, hope it continues to get better.

@LaLine - I hope all went well with your surgery yesterday.

@Kari - how's the new puppy settling in?

@Ariane - yes on that book working for that goal.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I'm good and I'll finally be done my 2001 book by tonight. Had to make more cheesecake last night and I'm on my way out now to deliver them before work. At least no midnight delivery this time. :) And the bears are sleeping.

Have a great day teammates.

message 474: by Ariane (new)

Ariane Great, I'll start it tonight.
I'm having a cold so I am not so good, but I'll be better tomorrow.
Good evening all ;-)

message 475: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Used The Brethren for the 2001 goal.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as available - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable.
Used The Doll Maker

NEW GOAL --Read a book that is on your "to read" shelf with the lowest GR star rating.

message 476: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I actually read my second lowest rated book already for this challenge. :(

message 477: by Sarah-jane (new)

Sarah-jane | 144 comments I started The Ice Twins today and it's nowhere near my lowest rated book :/ ...

message 478: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 24, 2015 12:42PM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Maybe I should become a book editor, there's clearly a need for good ones out there. It's sad enough that authors can't seem to catch their own spelling, grammar and word use errors, but if the person who is being paid to fix those errors before publication can't do it either... Well I once again weep for humanity.

message 479: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Read a book that is on your "to read" shelf with the lowest GR star rating.

My shelves are all over the place and I really need to sort my 'to read' shelf, but I'll have a look and see what the lowest rated book on there is and if it's one I have available to read.

message 487: by Ariane (new)

Ariane the book on my "to read" shelf with the lowest GR star rating is at the library, but I can't start it before Saturday; anyone else until then?

message 488: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I actually have to read my lowest rated book soon for another challenge. I don't know if I'll beat you or not - we can have a race. :D

message 489: by Ariane (new)

Ariane Hehe let's do that ;-)

message 490: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I bet mine is worse than yours. Check out this beauty My Sweetheart by Moon Light Publishing - it doesn't even have an author, just a publishing company. :P

message 491: by Kenéz (new)

Kenéz Boglárka Gold night everyone! Sorry I am busy I think I will update some books at next Thursday.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Ariane wrote: "which got me thinking... that's an ocean on the cover!"

Well, then you if you both read your books then maybe Allison can cover the lowest rated book and we can use your book for the ocean goal. Happy reading to you both :D

message 497: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I couldn't believe we didn't already have an ocean cover. Of course the last two books I read before the challenge started were ocean covers, so I guess I was thinking about those. :)

message 498: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I thought we did too. I know I had one, but I had forgotten it was used for the twitterpated goal.

message 499: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 25, 2015 04:18PM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I needed a quick read tonight and forgot to bring a book so I read this - Santa Cruise A Holiday Mystery at Sea by Mary Higgins Clark . It has an ocean on the cover so I'll add it to the goals.

message 500: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 25, 2015 04:32PM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments NEW GOAL -- Read a book where at least 5 people are killed.
Used The Lion's Game (John Corey, #2) by Nelson DeMille - where an entire jet full of people are killed.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book where MCs attends a concert/art exhibit/theater show.
Used Kari's Rock the Heart (Black Falcon, #1) by Michelle A. Valentine - rock concerts.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book with the phrase "hands are tied" in a book.

Anyone? I'll be home in about half an hour, I'll go through some books then.
