Allison Ann | 1408 comments No fire anywhere on our covers, that surprises me almost as much as not having an ocean. :D

message 552: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments Does this look like fire to you guys? The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan I'll probably finish it up either tonight or tomorrow.

Just finished The Art of Being Normal but it doesn't seem to count towards any current goals.

Pardon Our Dust!

The mods are currently tinkering behind the scenes. This may cause some random spreadsheet issues. Please be patient with us while we continue to make the Tower Teams challenge even better!

Everything will be back to normal soon. Thanks for understanding!

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I went to bed at 7:30 last night, so very little reading yesterday. I wish I could say I got a great night's sleep and am refreshed, but... :D

I will finish up my dancing book today and because I only have about 100 pages left in my before bed book (the lion book), I might finish that one tonight. I'm savouring it though, so we'll see.

Hope everyone has/had a good Monday.

message 557: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments Checking in on this wonderful Monday morning .... I got very little reading done over the weekend as it was Thanksgiving here in the States and I savored every bit of my long weekend with my family instead of my books :)

Today I've got a sick boy at home so who knows what reading I'll get done today (if any). But I wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm still here, even if I'm pretty quiet.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and happy reading :)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments Hope your boy feels better soon Tara.

Just finished The Battle of the Labyrinth so that ticks off the fire goal :)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Faith,

Can you add The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan to your TT shelf please.

message 560: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I haven't managed to read as much I as wanted the last few days. Things should be better now.

Hope your boy feels better soon Tara.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Read a book where the title starts with the letter A
Used Faith's The Art of Being Normal

NEW GOAL
Read a book from a genre that you don't normally read

Has anyone already read something that fits and hasn't been used for a previous goal?

message 564: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I read The Fallen Star (Fallen Star, #1) by Jessica Sorensen which is YA romance, something I generally avoid.

message 565: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Ok, will use it then.

message 566: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments NEW GOAL

Read a book where the title starts with the letter U

We've used the books that we did have starting with U already

message 567: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I've a U book

message 568: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Great Danielle, I don't have any vowel books on deck. :)

Tara - hope your little guy is feeling better. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving though.

Faith - the spreadsheet gives you automatic points for your page numbers, so you already had the right amount for The Art of Being Normal, but thanks for checking up on yourse.f ;)

Tomorrow is December 1st already! Unbelievable. It is ridiculously warm here - barely freezing, less than a cm of snow on the ground and no ice on the lake yet. It's going to be a lean winter for tourism if this keeps up.

Anyone planning to do the Winter Seasonal Reading Challenge? I have about half my books planned so far. Fortunately every book counts for this challenge too.

Now to finish my dancing book.

message 569: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I know, it's crazy that it's almost December. It's been cold and raining a lot the last few days here. Pretty miserable.

I had a quick look the Seasonal Reading Challenge last year and decided it wasn't for me.

message 571: by Allison Ann (last edited Nov 30, 2015 11:58AM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Here's a laugh - my terrible YA novel that we just used with people being stars and witches and vampires and demons and other fantasy stuff is on the "Realistic YA" list. :) - still looking.

message 572: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (last edited Nov 30, 2015 11:59AM) (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Crazy lol

I don't read much YA, but I do have some books on that list that I have on my tbr. So if no one else has something that works, I can read a book for it.

message 573: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I have nothing on that list, I shall leave it to the rest of the group.

People really don't know what the word realistic means do they?

message 574: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments GOALS

NEW GOAL

message 577: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments One of our witches or vampires must be able to fly?

message 578: by Kari (new)

Kari (mazuka) | 427 comments I worked REALLY hard and finished a book before the end of the month. I've been busy and have had no time to read! Now, I have to get christmas cards made and sent out!

message 579: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments I'm planning on joining in with the Winter challenge Allison, though I'm not usually very good! I've taken part a few times before but this time was my best score, and I still only got 220 points. I enjoy finding stuff that fits the tasks but I'm also a total mood reader so I never take it too seriously (and often forget half way through which is a bit useless!).

message 580: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments I'm thinking about doing the seasonal challenge. I'm already doing the Iditarod Race on the A Million More Pages group and I wish I hadn't signed up for that, you have to read a book a week that meets specific requirements and have to check in before you move on and you only get the instructions weekly as the new stop opens up. It's not easy for my reading speed....... So I might not have a good start on the seasonal challenge depending on how the race continues for me........

message 581: by Sarah-jane (new)

Sarah-jane | 144 comments I would like to take part in the seasonal challenge but it seems complicated, I don't really understand how everything works !

message 582: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments Sarah-jane wrote: "I would like to take part in the seasonal challenge but it seems complicated, I don't really understand how everything works !"

So I'm not the only one who read the instructions and realized I was more confused after reading them than before??? It seems terribly complicated and very rigid if you screw your reporting up. But I like a lot of the options for this season and I figure I'll learn as I go :)

message 583: by Sarah-jane (new)

Sarah-jane | 144 comments I agree Tara ! I am also worried I won't be reading enough this month because I have exams that start in January ... :/

message 584: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I never concern myself with finishing. In fact this round I didn't post my final book so I wouldn't have to make up a challenge. :) I also don't concern myself too much with not being perfect - hard as I try I know I'll screw something up so why worry too much. But I love trying to match my books to the goals. It's fun!

message 585: by Sarah-jane (new)

Sarah-jane | 144 comments It looks fun Allison :) I'll see if I end up giving it a go.
I am already really proud of having read 6 books this month for TT and 7 in total ! I was at an average of 4 before :)

message 586: by Ariane (new)

Ariane Hello, I'm checking in after the weekend... and I'm sick.
So, I finally finished my book but unfortunately it doesn't fit any of the goals so far.

message 587: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Finished my lion book.

NEW GOAL -- Read a book with a pair of glasses on the cover.
Used Danielle's Forever Ride (The Hellions Ride, #2) by Chelsea Camaron

NEW GOAL -- Read a book that is in the "The Best Epic Fantasy" Listopia List (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...).

message 588: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Sorry you're sick Ariane, hope you feel better soon.

Your book The Thirteenth Tale will actually work for our newest goal, but you need to put it on your shelf first please. :) Thanks!

message 589: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Used Kari's Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs for goal "Read a book where MCs have superhero powers."

NEW GOAL -- Read a book that covers multiple generations.

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments Best epic fantasy sounds good ;) I'll have a browse of the list when I get home

message 592: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Ariane's book is on that list, we're just waiting for her to put the book on her shelf so we can complete the goal. Not to discourage you from reading from that list - because most of those books are awesome. :D

message 593: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments Okay perfect :D

There's plenty on that list I want to read/re-read but none I'd planned to get to soon so it works out nicely. I'm planning to try and get the Wheel of Time books read in 2016, and I want to re-read Game of Thrones but I'm hesitant to do it yet because at this rate I'll have finished and forgotten everything again before Winds of Winter comes :( Plus Mistborn is on my list too but I haven't got a copy yet!

message 594: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Faith - have you read anything by Guy Gavriel Kay? He's on that list quite a bit but he doesn't seem to be overly well known outside of Canada. If you haven't, I HIGHLY recommend his novels. Especially Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay and A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay and The Fionavar Tapestry (The Fionavar Tapestry #1-3) by Guy Gavriel Kay and The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay and basically everything else. :D

message 595: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments Ooh I haven't, but Tigana is actually on an ultimate SFF list in one of my other groups. Thanks for the recommendations :D

message 596: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

message 599: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments Finished another book tonight. That brings my total contribution up to 4 .. very small in comparison, but very well for me personally.

This one was Dead in the Water (Stone Barrington, #3) by Stuart Woods . It's #3 in the Stone Barrington series, and a good installment in my opinion. A little predictable in places, but overall a book that I enjoyed.

I don't understand why I keep starting book series that have a gazillion books already published! It's like a never-ending battle...
