Hi all, just finished The Dream Thieves, which doesn't count for any current goals unfortunately, but which I quite enjoyed. Not sure what's up next yet - I'm reading Red Rising as part of a readalong so can't finish that yet (no matter how much I want to!) and don't have anything else on the go yet, so off to have a browse and see what I fancy!

The book I'll be finishing this afternoon has two characters named Tom in it. Neither is very important, but the goal only says two characters so I think it will work. :)

Anything you read will almost certainly be used eventually for a goal - so read whatever you want to read. You never know when two guys named Tom might show up. :D

I've decided to go all out for BotM points in December. So I'm reading
right now, because I still have 2 weeks to get the points and I have
on deck after that. I might even get DQs on the last two if the lottery works in my favour. Points!!

I've never had much luck in liking the BOM's I've tried. So even thought they do give good points, unless it's something I really want to read I'd rather read the books I want.

I've been reading crappy cozy mysteries for the 5 points, at least if these aren't great I'll get 20 points. :) I like the other Gaiman books I've read and I like fantasy, though YA fantasy sometimes gets a little eye-rolly for me. Six of Crows is pretty interesting so far. I like the world building aspect.

Speaking of crappy cozy mysteries, does this look like a yellow dress to everyone?

Maybe just a yellow top, looks think ether might be some white trousers?

Darn I was hoping for empire waisted dress. :) I haven't found anything else for that goal yet.

I do have one, if the goal is still open in a few days, I can pick it up.

I have a short book with an orange dress I can read tomorrow.

Nothing that works for either yet. I thought we had the Sphinx, but it was just a random Egyptian statue when I looked more closely. :)

I think in American Gods are some characters who seeks the world but I am not sure... some of the new gods, and another characters also but I don't know if it is said or just suggested...

I think you are right Kenéz, the book is on the world domination list anyway. I'm not far enough along to say for sure yet.

I found a book with cornucopia. I won't be able to get to it for awhile, but we have a month to finish those goals.

Hello, I'm just checking in. I am having a hard time at reading these days, spending too much time on Netflix ;-)
I am reading American Gods, which is the BOM. And there's mention of world domination :)
And my edition also has a red cover so we'll see for the goals when I'm finished, which won't happen this week I'm afraid... we'll see if it gets better...

A lot of people are finding American Gods quite slow. I've just barely started it so I have no comment yet. :) Make sure you let us know when you comment in the BotM thread - extra points!

The cover of the version of Night Train to Memphis that I listened to has a cartoonish picture of the Sphinx and two of the pyramids of Giza on it. It's hard to see on GR because the picture of the cover is small and much darker than the cover that shows up on my OneClickDigital app. I think it should count for famous landmark. But if not, I'll be starting a book in a few days that has a picture of St. Paul's Cathedral on it.

I'm almost finished with the orange dress book, but it might have to wait until tomorrow evening because I can't keep my eyes open and I have lots of meetings tomorrow at work.

Phew! Finished it. Orange dress goal is now done. 'Night all.

I wanted to start American Gods but I remembered that I read just a few months ago so it will not count...

I'm pretty sure Lallybroch is a castle and if it isn't then Beafort Castle where Lord Lovat lives is definitely a castle, it's in the name. :)

How the heck are we supposed to judge that. Anyone have any ideas?

Glad you had one. I pretty much just posted goal and got offline, had a bad headache and wasn't feeling too good. I've not done anything today and while not 100% I am feeling better now.

I wouldn't count it on that cover. I don't think you can tell wether it's the Sphinx and not just a random pharaoh statue. I could be wrong but I still wouldn't use it for this goal.
