I should finish Darkfever later today--lots of mythical creatures in that if we still need that goal by then.

I hated the hunger game books and series. It was soo poorly written. I forced myself through the entire series as my flatmate at the time had the series and I wanted to read them before we moved out. It was one of my all time why did I bother series.

I'm also avoiding the movies. Cannot handle those even if jennifer is amazing.

message 469: by Grace (last edited Nov 21, 2015 03:43AM) (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Megan I liked the Hunger games, not the best thing I have ever read, they were all 3 stars to me but I did like them. My why did I bother series is The Mortal Instruments. It just read like bad Harry potter Fan Fiction I read the first 3 but could not force myself to even look at the later ones.

message 470: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I am reading No. 251 on my TBR. I should be finished soon.

message 471: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments The Mortal Instruments was not a favorite. Too long and drawn out. Magnus was the only character I really liked. But I enjoyed The Infernal Devices series. Magnus is in those.

message 472: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I haven't read those one Meg, I am glad you like them. I agree the Mortal Instruments were too long, she stretched things out which was pointless as nothing was a surprise. Magnus was an interesting character.

Megan | 1607 comments Grace wrote: "I haven't read those one Meg, I am glad you like them. I agree the Mortal Instruments were too long, she stretched things out which was pointless as nothing was a surprise. Magnus was an interestin..."

I enjoyed the mortal instruments but i think that was probably because I had just gotten into that genre so I think I didn't know any better. I just tried so hard with the hunger games, i wanted to like them, I just couldn't get into it. And i think because I had seen the first film I didnt get the opportunity to imagine the characters myself, I already had the actors faces in my head and I hated that. Prefer to imagine them myself.

I liked the first book of infernal, I haven't read the rest yet. I am really enjoying the eragon books. Loads of people hate them but yeah. People have different likes and dislikes dont they? How did you guys like divergent??

message 474: by [deleted user] (new)

I read The Mortal Instruments up to half of COLS which was a DNF for me. I read the first book of Infernal which I liked. I thought The Hunger Games was very good. The other two were horrible (in my opinion). Last night my inactiveness was due to my fencing meet and watching the last movie.

message 475: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments Oops! Wanted to read the Back Room BOM (in my world this means Bill of Material) so I'm starting late. I can sprint through a romance, so starting late but I WILL get those points! Grrr. Game Face!

megan | 1492 comments Anyone else reading Winter? That's a close up of a hand too.

message 480: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I have Only read Cinder so for I keep meaning to get to the rest. I think Rebecca was planning to.

I am reading a short spy book as it has been on my TBR for ages and it gets that out of the way, then I need to finish Bound and the next Outlander book.

message 481: by [deleted user] (new)

I could read Winter.

message 482: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I finished Darkfever and Bound which was a Back room BOM.

Back to Six of Crows--which is great so far.

How did you like Darkfever ?

I also just finished Bound can't say I was impressed.

Glad you are enjoying Six of Crows

message 484: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments Can we not finish a book and still get points for the BOM?

message 485: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I don't know but I can find out but I would assume you would need to to finish it.

message 486: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments And Karen's most recent book fills the 8+ consonant goal! :)

message 487: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Meg what book was it ?

Thanks I don't see Karen's book on her shelf I can't update the goals until it appears on her books read.

message 488: by Grace (last edited Nov 22, 2015 06:47AM) (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Stacey I am not getting Darkfever showing up for you either. Bound is there but not Darkfever.

message 489: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments Ugh, Hated Bound. I should have thought to ask if we could DNF and still get credit. I resorted to skimming the last 100 or so pages cause I didn't want to waste any more time.

I liked Darkfever enough to continue. I did it on audio, which I think helped some because the reader did a nice job making Mac sound southern and Barrons sound Irish, so it was more entertaining than just reading it in my head would have been if that makes sense. But if I hear one more thing about Mac's "cute little sandals and matching skirt", I may be done. At least she finally put some jeans and a tshirt on near the end!

message 491: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments LOL She does become less of a fashion plate later, those bits annoyed me too she seemed so Vapid.

I was not a fan of Bound either, I hated both characters, I had zero wish to read on just did the allotted chapters a day and got through it that way, finish my penance then I could read something good.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments Grace wrote: "Stacey I am not getting Darkfever showing up for you either. Bound is there but not Darkfever."

I was just checking that. I think it was because the "date read" wasn't there. I fixed it so maybe it show up now.

message 493: by Grace (last edited Nov 22, 2015 06:58AM) (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Thanks Stacey. Yes I have got Darkfever showing on the spreadsheet now.

Karen can you please add the date read to Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time It won't be registered by the spreadsheet without a date read.

message 494: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Megan wrote: "Can we not finish a book and still get points for the BOM?"

Sorry Meg the book needs to be finished to claim BOM points.

Audrey Jane | 1815 comments Good evening team! RL has been pretty hectic lately, I'm a little behind on my reading schedule. I'm currently still working on A Grave Matter, and hopefully I can squeeze another book before the end of the month (thinking of starting Sweep in Peace). I'm going to join the BOM American Gods discussion, the book has been gathering dust on my shelves for a couple of years now, time to found out what all the hype is about :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

You could probably use Darkfever for the "surprising and unexpected talent" as Mac has no idea she is able to see the Fae and freeze them when she arrives in Dublin.
