Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Can I please ask for a quick check in post from people. Just so we know who is still involved.

I am currently reading A Red-Rose Chain (October Daye, #9) by Seanan McGuire It has "method to my madness" in it although if someone else meets that one first that is great.

I got Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy, #1) by J.R. Ward I hope it is good. Hard to believe it is December already. Time for Christmas books and lots of cheesy Christmas movies :)

Ghost in the Stacks I am currently reading The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness , which will work for Character gains independence or "Security Blanket", about 70% finished, but its a big one, hoping to finish either today or tomorrow

message 607: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Abbie I loved that whole series. The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness was great. I wish she would write a book with Galllowglass as the MC. I adore him.

I as usual started a few books this morning. I couldn't decide what one to stick to but The Long Way Home by Z.A. Maxfield has sucked me in and it is a fast read.

I got some shin from the butcher's and I need to put on a pot of soup. It is freezing today.

Ghost in the Stacks Is it sad that I like Gallowglass better then Matthew?

message 609: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I working on The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon but finding it a bit of a slog. I have lots of purple covers, so maybe I'll pick one of those up to take a break.

Grace, I would love to know how Blood Kiss is when you finish it. She's lost me with recent BDB books, but that one sounds like it might have promise.

Also, my Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo book points are showing up on the spreadsheet, but it doesn't look like the points for BOM or doing DQs have been added yet.

I didn't love the last BDB books either but I like Butch and I think this is supposed to be half the new couple half Butch and Marissa so I will see.

The BOM need to be added manually I will do that now, thanks for the reminder, I had it in my head to do it last night but I forgot.

message 612: by Grace (last edited Dec 01, 2015 04:23AM) (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Stacey I have that updated BOM points have been added for you and Meg.A purple cover would be great, I have so few that fit that.

message 613: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments Just finished Untamed for the U goal.

I've been a reading beast the last few days. I've been trying to help make up where we haven't been getting the book points from Leena.

In the spreadsheet where the goals are listed, can we modify those cells to include who is reading a book for those specific goals?

message 614: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Thanks Meg it is appreciated. I have updated the goal will post the new list in next post. I am not sure on the spreadsheet but I can put a name beside the goal on the goal list in the books read post and when I post the list here.

Awesome, I've just finished a book with a red cover, so once it shows on the spreadsheets we can claim that :)

message 621: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) I've just finished Moon Over Soho (Peter Grant, #2) by Ben Aaronovitch so will head over and add it to books read (annoyingly the cover has a lot of purple on it, but is mainly blue!). I'm currently reading 'Clockwork Princess' at the moment. I'm not sure if I have any books I could read where there is a 'lucky' item or a character gains independence. I finish uni on Tuesday which will mean I will have a lot more time to read : )

Don't you have to start reading it after the goal has been posted to claim the points?

Ooh, I've just downloaded 'The Selection' by Kiera Cass The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass onto my Overdrive - that has a ballgown on the cover, I'm more than happy to start reading it today.

You are right. In normal goals the book can be read at any time before or after the goal comes up but for the 25 days challenge you have to start after the goal is revealed. I can do a red over if no one else has one.

message 627: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Lauren that is great The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass would work perfectly. Megan and Ellie have already read it but they were both used for other goals.

Apologies, I clearly did not read that! I was knackered, that is my excuse anyway...

Megan | 1607 comments If unsure about the cover of a title, using the below link and Steps could help!!!

http://labs.tineye.com/color/

To check the colour of a book cover for the read a book that the cover is the colour ____.

To use
save a copy of image to your computer OR copy the image link (right click on cover, select "copy image location"
upload photo or paste URL
add all percentages of color you are looking for together to get total color amount
all shades of that color added together must be over 50%

I've added this onto the Athena book read page. I'm pretty sure we're okay, but I just saw this as another goal hyperlinked to Tower Teams Goal FAQs sheet and looking this is on their for the colour ones. Not sure if this will actually be of use to anybody or even if we have problems with it, but this could be useful to us co-captains when adding books to the goalless books on our sheet.. :)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Thanks Megan.

It has me confused I read Tricky Twenty-Two (Stephanie Plum, #22) by Janet Evanovich which to me is red but looking at those results I have no clue.

I know what you mean, I tried Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer which to me is so obviously purple, but it doesn't come up majority as purple.
Your book to me is so obviously red, they must count that!

message 632: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I hope so, I asked the mods, according to that site it is 25% one red, 9% another red and the rest is pink, orange, brown, yellow and white. I see red with white and yellow on the text.

Your book looks purple and black to me.

If they don't take it, then I just realised I started a red cover book Evernight (Evernight, #1) by Claudia Gray which is coming up as 54% red so if they don't take yours we have a back up :)

I would argue that the orange is red personally on that colour chart. It looked more red than orange to me.

I read A Thousand Nights in the UK edition. Would that count since the UK version in purple?

What book cover is it? I can see you've reviewed this cover A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston and looking on the link we've been given by the mods, that isn't enough for it to count...

message 636: by [deleted user] (new)

That is the version I read.

Sorry guys if I'm inactive for some days. I'm going on a big road trip and it's rare the hotel has a computer (well this one does) but anyways I'll be reading a lot of Cassandra Clare. I'll be back home on Saturday.

Ok Rebecca, have a good trip. And enjoy Cassandra!

I'll have to see if someone else agrees with that goal working for Six of Crows as I haven't read the book so hopefully someone that has, could judge it better than I can.

message 641: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments Kaz's gloves were definitely a security blanket. He couldn't stand touching other people.

Thanks Meg

We have two new goals then. The listopia one probably has been read by someone but I'm getting a bit busy during the end of work so I'll have to properly check later, however if someone sees a book they've read during this challenge on that List just say something and I'll sort it out :)
Or if they want to claim it and say they'll read one I don't mind that!

Read a book that has been on your "to read" shelf for more than 6 months
Read a book with a ball gown on the cover
Read a book with the word soldier, army, war or battle (plurals are acceptable) in the title

Think you've broken the mods with the question about whether that book is red Grace! haha I think its a yes to it being red despite what the colour checker says.
