Thats also what bugged me about that one but the first book is more expensive than the other.

Most romances like that are standalone its more like shes grouping what is the same story over and over again into a series LOL. To be honest both are probably stand alone.

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I can read the first one and you can save your money for something good :) I may be being really unfair and this might be good, I have been surprised before. I also have The Christmas Wager by Jamie Fessenden the cover is horrible and I am not sure if it is enough fireplace.

God that cover is awful. I think its too small... The others we've picked out I think are probably better.

message 804: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1607 comments I have found some more what do you think about The Doctor's Christmas Wish not sure if fireplace is too small though...

Or The Cowboy's Christmas Surprise (Forever, Texas, #9) by Marie Ferrarella which again fireplace is a little small but not that bad its sort of centered on the cover..

Megan | 1607 comments How is it the 12th of December already! I'm not looking forward to Christmas I'm looking forward to my early payday next week :-)

Grace are you still reading that fireplace book? Or would you like me to read one?

message 819: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Megan I am done with the fireplace book and I can do the shopping one I have Mini Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #6) by Sophie Kinsella to read and then I can read the next one where the page number adds to 20.

Yeah for early pay day. My shopping is a disaster this year. DH is working this morning nd we are going o brave the crowds later, although most of ours will be done next weekend as my Mum is taking the boys.

Alright I wasn't sure that was all. I'm always hit and miss about Sophie Kinsella, some of her books are okay, the rest bore me to tears. I cannot get into the shopaholic series for the life of me.

I've got most of my presents sorted, I had them done by end of november. I'm super OCD, I've just got to buy one more thing for my boyfriend and something for my auntie and boy cousin and I'm sorted. I however think you are very brave going shopping on a weekend. I avoid that at all costs especially Christmas!!!

message 821: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I stopped reading Sophie Kinsella for a while but I bought the books so I should read them.

Lucky you almost finished with shopping. I have the stuff that needs posting and I got a beautiful picture last night for a friend, it is by one of her favourite artists so she should love it. I find the weekend isn't too bad as long as you go early or avoid Belfast and the main shopping centres. Today we are just going to the local town centre so won't be too bad. Next weekend we won't have the kids so can go early.

message 822: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Oh the cheesy fireplace book wasn't as bad as I was expecting, only one of the three stories was truly awful, the other two were not bad. I have read a lot worse :)

message 823: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1607 comments I actually prefer her writing under her own name Madeleine Wickham or something like that. Her books seem better even though its the same person.

I still couldn't do it, I had to go into town on a Monday and I still nearly cried. I hate crowds. Oh that's nice! Is it a well known artist?

I'm just looking into Read a book about a group of friends and so far on other team's spreadsheets I've seen that someone shelved Harry Potter for it. Which I don't think makes much sense.

message 824: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments The artist is a local one Karen Shannon Her stuff is lovely.

I Don't like crowds much either but it could be worse. Shopping with the boys is the bigger challenge but they want to choose something for their Grannies.

I have read a couple of Madeline Wickham books too they were okay. I think how much I like anything like that depends on my mood sometimes switching off your brain with fluff like that is great, other times it is just annoying.

I suppose Harry Potter does work for a group of friends, after all Harry, Ron and Hermione do stick together. I am actually reading a Harry Potter tomorrow for another challenge. I have few books started I hope to get finished tonight. Nothing specifically for goals.

message 825: by megan (new)

Her stuff is lovely. Just had a quick peek.

I do know what you mean, I think that is why I struggle with Shopaholic. Its just too much airhead fluff nonsense I can't deal with it. I can't remember what book I read of hers I think it was Swimming Pool Sunday so so so long ago, I don't even remember it.

It does and doesn't its not as if its about them though, its about Harry Potter not Harry Potter and friends. The only other ones were A Little Life which also I didn't think counted as much, believe its more about siblings but hey! OR The Zombie Chronicles which I cannot stomach so if someone else wants to volunteer for the zombie book they can, its a free kindle read!! I just do not do Zombies.

message 827: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Megan wrote: "All my shopping came from Etsy, eBay, or Amazon. I hate malls!!"

Sensible Woman :) The few things I have got so far have been mostly online but I like getting unique craft things and I know Etsy does a lot of that but it is so hard to tell the quality from the pictures so braving the Christmas markets and Craft fairs is a necessary evil for me.

I have never bought anything off of Etsy before I find it too expensive. I also don't tend to buy a lot of craft stuff anyway. I live on amazon for books I must admit.

message 829: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments OK I am now confused on the group of friends thing. I don't do zombies either but have read 2 I really liked My Life as a White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1) by Diana Rowland and Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1) by Jesse Petersen which were funny, entertaining and low on gore.

message 830: by Grace (new)

I am irrationally scared of Zombies, I know they're not real. I know I'm ok, but I cannot read a Zombie book or watch a film I have nightmares. I also find that most zombie books are the same thing day in day out. at least the other paranormal books mix it up sometimes.

And I haven't I'm just checking this out, it could be dangerous!!

Ghost in the Stacks I hate shopping....and I havent done any Christmas shoping get...uggg.
I am going to attempt latter on today.

message 833: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I don't know if this will count for the friends goal, but I finished Fantasy in Death today. Eve's case in this one was about the murder of one of a group of 4 friends who had grown up together, started a business together, etc. Technically I guess the book is about Eve, but the whole case revolves around these 4 friends.

message 834: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Stacey I am not sure on this one I will put it to the mods.

message 835: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Ok sorry Stacey that won't work although I am sure that book will get used soon, it fits a lot of the other goals we haven't had. I really need to ctch up on the series but I keep getting distracted.

Harry Potter books are acceptable for the group of friends goal. I will be done with mine later today.

message 836: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments The latest 25 Days goal is

Day 12 Read a book that has elves, reindeer or a sleigh on the cover or in title for 10 points!

I have Sleigh Ride (Minnesota Christmas, #2) by Heidi Cullinan but I have quite a few to finish up first so anyone has anything that works that is great.

I am looking for something. If anyone wants to read Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper it is a fun read.

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments The one I have is #7 in a series Reap the Wind (Cassandra Palmer, #7) by Karen Chance I could also read Into the Storm (Signal Bend, #3) by Susan Fanetti but that series is brutal, I need to steel myself to read on. There is also Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James which was good. The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan also works and I am sure there are lots more I can have better look later the minions get out early today, Christmas concert tonight.
