Pretty much you just say if one of your books meets any of the criteria.

Once you finish your book, just let the captain know if it works for any of them.

You can read any book you want, so you can deside, "hey I am going on read one that fits" or hey, "I am going to read what I want, and if it fits, then it fits"

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I had planned to start Angelfall and that's been on my To Read list for at least a year. So I can work on that one.

megan | 1492 comments Book listed on first page in GR? Is there a first page with books?

Ghost in the Stacks When you click on a book, on your right hand side towards the top middle, you will see Genre. Click on see top shelves.

What pops up is your "first" page, as most books will have multiple pages which you will locate on the bottom right hand side under the shelves

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Megan wrote: "Book listed on first page in GR? Is there a first page with books?"

No... when you select the book on the right side below the genres appears "See top shelves.." is the first page when choosing that link

There is link in first post of this thread to spreadsheet.

I kinda embraced my inner stalker this morning and entered all Athena's members profiles in search of the shelves... is a *very* important column on the spreadsheet otherwise script won't work

Ghost in the Stacks Rebecca, has everyone checked in?

Its pretty quite for it being the first day and all..

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Ok my first book is A Dangerous Thing (Adrien English Mystery, #2) by Josh Lanyon It doesn't meet any of the current goals but my next one Hot Head (Head, #1) by Damon Suede has been on my TBR for more than a year.

How is the Adrien book? I read first one and have the next three on audio...

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Ok I am not 100% sure on what this means

°Read a book has has a number in the title, and the series is one higher then that number"

So I need to read a book with say one in the title that is number two in a series ? eg One Bite Per Night (Scandals with Bite, #2) by Brooklyn Ann

Exactly that.

other examples are Zero at the Bone (Zero at the Bone, #1) by Jane Seville and The Big Four (Hercule Poirot, #5) by Agatha Christie

message 120: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Sonia, I am really enjoying it, more Jake in this one. I really want to binge read the series now. The first one is a good set up, I read it yesterday. There is more relationship in this one but still mystery, they don't replace my love of Ty & Zane but Adrien and Jake are good.

message 121: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Thanks Sonia. I have read your other two examples. I will get to the other one soon.

Nothing replaces Ty&Zane. Nothing. They may be good pairings like Dex & Sloane from THIRDS, but that's it. Good pairings. No Ty&Zane.

I agree. I love Dex and Sloae too and Tony and Mac from Life Lessons (Life Lessons, #1) by Kaje Harper and Evan and Matt from Faith & Fidelity (Faith, Love, & Devotion, #1) by Tere Michaels but they don't beat Ty & Zane. I am hoping for at least a little Ty & Zane when Part & Parcel (Sidewinder, #3) by Abigail Roux comes out.

Me too.. They better be in Part&Parcel. And not by phone only, like they did in Cross & Crown (Sidewinder, #2) by Abigail Roux

Attention Team!!!!

Since team captains have to deal with a lot of pressure and decision making, it requires a certain degree of maturity, so we prefer them to have at least 20-25 years old.

We the mods were discussing it, and we decided that is better for Rebecca, and for team Athena to have her as a regular member instead of a captain.

Both Grace and Megan are doing a good job at co-captain, Abby has also been a very pro-active member.

Your mentor Sonia will help with team managing, until we decide what the next step is.

Thank you

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I added some info into our Athena Books Read thread. If everyone wants to claim spots in the thread please feel free. If you are a faster reader you may want to claim two in order to keep your posts together.

I have the current goals listed and who has claimed them. I will try and keep this updated as regularly as possible. To avoid confusion could the two Megans please give me an initial to use beside their names in this post.

message 128: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments Grace and Megan, do you want us to post our finished books both here AND on the Books Read thread? Or just on the Books Read? I can't quite remember how it went last year.

message 129: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Just the detailed post in the Books read thread but feel free to state here that you have finished and updated your post. This thread is chat, book discussion etc. Hopefully we will liven up now we have started :)

Megan and I will try to keep up to date. Please bear in mind we are both in GMT time zone ( I should be in bed right now as it is almost 2am here)

Awesome Grace, looks good!

Ghost in the Stacks Grace or Meagan, mine works for the To -Read goal, so you can add my name to that.

Audrey Jane | 1815 comments Good morning team! So excited the challenge finally started. I will read Who Buries the Dead (Sebastian St. Cyr #10) by C.S. Harris and The Texan's Wager (Wife Lottery, #1) by Jodi Thomas this week. Unfortunately, they don't fit any current goals.

My shelf is NBRC Tower Teams IV.

Megan | 1607 comments Hi guys, writing this on the mobile app (god I hate this) but it is rememberance day today in England so I've been out paying my respects.

okay so Grace has been pretty good last night with her updating everyone. I was sleeping haha. i understand some people don't have access to a computer so they just use an app? pretty sure someone said that in here. I think because of that, if we could keep up to date on here about books being read, and goals we want to go for just incase the spreadsheet doesn't launch on their phone/tablet. Hope that makes some sense.

As Grace said we are both on GMT but i do do night shifts, so some times I will be awake and active during the night which i guess will be the day for some of you. Just if I am on night shift, I will have to put my concentration on work and not on goodreads, sadly. ;(

Also I suppose you could use R for me.

Sorry for any spelling and grammar mistakes, for some reason the app doesn't show me if I spell something wrong. and doesn't do auto caps after a full stop, so frustrating.

message 135: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Megan my boys were in the Rembrance parade this morning too and I am cooking the roast dinner so not much chance to update.

Since we have no reserved posts at the beginning of this thread I put important stuff on the Books read thread. You might want to reserve a few spots there in case you need them later.

I am going to link the main goals lists and the BOM threads over there later.

message 136: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments Our current Open Goals

°Read a book set in your home state or country
°Read a book with a red, pink, or orange dress on the coverMegan R.
°Read a book has has a number in the title, and the series is one higher then that number Grace
°Read a book that has been on your "too read shelf" for more then 1 year Stacey
°Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as to-read - plurals and spelling acceptable Abbie

Remember books read and not already assigned to a goal can be used for any uncompleted goal at any time. Books read this week and beyond can still be used for goals we receive later.

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) Hello all, I am SO sorry for my late response - I have had a manic two days at work and the notifications from the thread only just came through!
My bookshelf is: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... (tower teams)

I was planning on reading Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch (390 pages) Rivers of London (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch for my first book which works for one our goals as it is set in England and I am from England.

Looking forward to seeing what other people read and chatting about the books! :)

To Lauren: Oo Rivers of London. I really enjoyed the series. It is just the style of urban fantasy that i like. I hope you have good time with it.

My next book is The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood. My edition of the book is 608 pages but the goodreads page says 528 (it is quite large font so i get why the difference) Which will i use?

message 148: by Grace (new)

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments OK I have finished two books and I managed to updated the spreadsheet without breaking it :) It will be updating the ones with goals that will be more challenging. We have 50 Points :)

OK thanks Meg that will make life easier.

One thing I am guilty of a lot is when a book is on my TBR I rate it and forget to change it to Read. Your books need to be on your challenge shelf and marked as read to be counted by the spreadsheet.

Please try to use the edition you read unless that one doesn't list a page count then go with one that has the same or closest to your page count.

You know, I think you have a list of Hobbits somewhere so you make sure we don't end up together again :P

On the other hand, this way I manage to recruit new Hobbits ;)
